Canadian Dan MacLelland averages over 238 to lead Final Round One at WBT Thailand

    Top 10 advance to meet qualifiers 9-24 in another six-game round Sunday

The Canadian had games of 244, 237, 221, 212, 248 and 268 for 1430 total and an average of 238.33.

    13-time PBA champion Tommy Jones (right), United States, who won the silver medal at the World Singles Championships last week, was second with 1409. Also surviving the second cut was his fellow PBA and Team USA member, Bill O'Neill, who finished eighth with 1351.

    UAE's Hareb Al-Mansoori took the 10th and last place to advance with 1306 and an average of 217.67. The top 10 meet qualifiers 9-24 in another six-game round later on Sunday.

    The World Bowling Tour Thailand 2012 will be held from Sept. 24 through Oct. 1, 2012 at Blu-O-Paragon bowling center in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament is the 10th stop of the 2012 World Bowling Tour and offers total prize fund of 4.215 million Baht or approx. 132,000 USD with 1 million Baht ($32,250) going to the winner and 500.000 Baht to the runner-up.

    The World Bowling Tour Thailand 2012 will also award a PBA Tour title if won by PBA member or a PBA international member.

    Qualifying (Three highest three-game series, unlimited re-entries) ran from Tuesday, Sept. 25 through Saturday, Sept. 30 and concluded with the one-game Desperado Squad. Women receive eight pins handicap each game throughout the entire tournament.

    Total 42 of 72 players from 16 countries advanced to the finals including
    • the top 7 qualifiers (received two byes),
    • the next two local bowlers (8th received two byes, 9th got one bye),
    • the next 29 players in the overall standings seeded 10-38 (10-24 received one bye)
    • plus another two locals seeded 39-40 and
    • the top 2 of the Desperado Squad seeded 41-42.
    Round 2, 3 and 4 each feature a six-game series from scratch. Ties in Round 1-4 will be broken by a one-ball roll-off. The field will be trimmed to 34, 20 and eight players, who will determine the champion in the TV stepladder final.

    After the Bahamas Classic has been postponed and the Daejeon International Open 2012 in Korea has lost its WBT status, the 2012 World Bowling Tour consists of 12 tournaments in America, Asia, Europe and Australia - five in the United States and one each in Australia, Austria, Finland, France, Japan, Kuwait and Thailand.

    Players earn ranking points based on how they finish in each event. The current points system is based on a continuous two-year cycle, so points earned in 2012 will be added to points earned in 2011 to determine the points list.

    The top three men and top three women will be invited to compete in the World Bowling Tour Finals presented by the Professional Bowlers Association at the end of 2012 featuring total prize fund of $70,000.
