The 2012 World Bowling Tour was made up of 12 tournaments around the world and players earned points based on how they finished in each event. The current points system was based on a continuous two-year cycle, so points earned in 2011 were added to points earned in 2012 to determine the top three on the points list, who advanced to the WBT Finals.

2012EBT16KellyKulick.jpg2012EBT16LizJohnson.jpgOn the women's side, all three players were from the United States. Missy Parkin took first with 369 points, Kelly Kulick (left) was second with 344 and Liz Johnson (right) got the last spot with 295 points.

In the opening match, Johnson ousted Kulick in a strike fest, 267-260 to bowl Parkin for the title. The 2011 USBC Queens winner wrapped up the title with a 238-190 win in the title match.

Parkin earned the $20,000 top prize, Johnson took $10,000 for second place and Kulick got $5,000 for third place.

Barnes, who recently won his 14th career PBA title in the 10th Columbia 300 Vienna Open topped Fagan in the semifinal match, 258-244, and carried the momentum into the title match in which he defeated defending champion Koivuniemi, 244-228.

Barnes pocketed $20,000 for the feat, while Koivuniemi and Fagan pocketed $10,000 and $5,000 for second and third place.

The ESPN stepladder finals which were conducted on Saturday, Nov. 10, in the special arena setting in South Point’s Exhibition Hall area will air on Sunday, Dec. 9.

The 2013 World Bowling Tour got already underway with the PBA World Championship, a WBT "major".

The World Tenpin Bowling Association, which is made up of 115 bowling federations, governs the sport throughout the world. For more information on WTBA and the World Bowling Tour, visit WorldTenpinBowling.com.
