Tight race on men's side, women's field determined for World Bowling Tour finals

Heading into the final event of the World Tenpin Bowling Association World Bowling Tour season, the women's race is determined but plenty of drama remains on the men's side.
Sean Rash (pictured left) of the United States leads a tight grouping near the top of the men's points list, while Kelly Kulick (right) has a stranglehold on the women's standings heading into the final event.
The World Bowling Tour is made up of various events around the world and players earn points based on how they finish in each event. The current points system is based on a continuous two-year cycle, so points still include the final event from 2011, which will be dropped for final ranking, and all events from 2012 in addition to the 2013 events.
The top three men and top three women will advance to the World Bowling Tour Finals, which will be held in Las Vegas in Nov. 3.
Rash leads the men's division with 563 points, while Finland's Mika Koivuniemi (left), fresh off a win at the recently concluded Columbia 300 Vienna Open, is in second place with 534 points.
A handful of other players remain in the hunt to make the top three as well with three U.S. players next in line. Mike Fagan (right) is third with 506 points, Tommy Jones is fourth with 494 and Chris Barnes is fifth with 491. Australia's Jason Belmonte still remains in contention with 491 points.
On the women's side, the World Bowling Tour Finals will consist of all Americans as Kulick, Liz Johnson (left) and Missy Parkin (right) have advanced to the finals regardless of the outcome of the Tour's final event.
Kulick leads with 647 points, Johnson is second with 555 points and Parkin is third with 539 points. Fourth place is Shannon Pluhowsky of the United States with a distant 367 points.
The season wraps up with the World Bowling Tour Thailand event from Oct. 14-21 in Bangkok, Thailand.
