Rebecka Larsen, Brittni Hamilton move into second and third place in women's division

    Liza del Rosario holds on to the lead as the women from 70 countries have completed the first round; score to make the cut in 24th place is 961 (192.20 average)

    2014BWCRebeckaLarsen.jpg2014BWCBrittniHamilton.jpgRebecka Larsen of Sweden and Brittni Hamilton, United States, led the second qualifying squad of the women's division at the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland, en route to move into second and third place in the overall standings as the women from 70 countries have completed the first of four five-game blocks at Sky Bowling Center.

    Larsen (pictured left), a two-time European champion, rolled games of 222, 237, 218, 226 and 246 to lead Squad B and to take over second place overall with 1149 and an average of 229.80.

    2014BWCLizaDelRosario2.jpg2014BWCDanniHopcroft.jpgHamilton (above right), who won the Team USA trials in January to qualify for the World Cup, started with 208 and 206 but closed out strong with 245, 244 and 226 for 1129 (225.80).

    Former world champion Liza del Rosario (left), Philippines, held on to the lead with 1195 and an average of 239.

    Sin Li Jane of Malaysia and Martina SchĂĽtz of Germany slipped two spots to fourth and fifth place with 1094 and 1084, respectively. Places 6-9 belonged to B Squad bowlers.

Mariana Ayala (left), who won the first medal for Puerto Rican woman at a World Championship (2013, Singles bronze), was mere four pins behind in seventh place with 1074 finishing with a 248 high game.

    Kaitlyn Commane (right) of Australia started her series with 222, 228 and 237 but had to settle for eighth place behind back-to-back 193 games and 1073 total. Jolanda Visser, Netherlands, was another pin behind in ninth place with 1072.

    2014BWCClaraGuerrero.jpg2014BWCVivianaDelgado.jpgTwo-time world champion Clara Juliana Guerrero of Colombia, who arrived in Wroclaw this afternoon coming straight from the World Series of Bowling in Las Vegas, started with back-to-back 180s but rebounded with 204, 244 and 214 for 1017, good for 13th place overall.

    With five out of twenty qualifying games in the books, Viviana Delgado (right) of Costa Rica is on the cut line in 24th place with 961 and an average of 192.20.

    The women are done for today and will return on Wednesday for the second block of qualifying. Squad B will start at 11 a.m. and Squad A will follow at 5.30 p.m. CET.

    Live coverage and live streaming commences on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
