Busan and Daegu win the Team titles in 21st Asian Intercity Bowling Championships

    2007AICMenTeamDaegu.jpg The women's team from Busan and the men's team from Daegu, both Korea, earned the coveted team titles in the 21st Asian Intercity Bowling Championships at Artha Gading Bowling Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

    Doubles champions Kim Young Pyo and Park Hee Jeong teamed with Kim Jong Hyun and Lee Tae Ju (pictured left) to lead the men's team event by a wide margin of 247 pins. The foursome totaled 5029 pins, an average of 209.54, and outaveraged their nearest rival Uiwang, also from Korea, by more than 10 pins.

    Kong Byoung-Hee, Won Jong-Yoon, Choi Won-Young and Oh Young-Gi landed in second place with 4782 (199.25), 18 pins under par based on a 200 average. The bronze medal went to Paranaque City, Philippines with Sandy Cotoco, Johnson Cheng, Frank Russo and Purvis Granger. The defending overall champions checked in with 4768 (198.67).

    2007AICWomenTeamBusan.jpg Women Singles and Doubles champion Yoo Sung Hee posted the highest series with 1226 to lead her teammates An Yu Ri, Park Eun Sun and Jang Jee Hyang to the third gold medal for Busan in as many events in Jakarta.

    Despite averaging under 200 (198.71), the Koreans played in their own class. Their 4769 six-game total was 299 pins higher than the 4470 of their closest competitor Singapore. Geraldine Ng, Teo Li Ying, Gina Lim and Bernice Lim earned the silver medal with 186.25 average.

    Chen Chao Hsun, Chang Tsu Hwei, Chou Yueh Yun and Jen Yu Nan from Taipeh took the bronze medal with 4420 and an average of 184.17.
