Jensen sisters target to defend Doubles title at Women's European Championships

    2008WECHelenJohnssonNinaFlack.jpg Overnight leaders Nina Flack and Helèn Johnsson maintained the lead in the Doubles event during the second 6-game block to earn the No. 1 seed for the finals at the Women's European Championships in Odense, Denmark. The duo added a 2579 six-game series on long oil to their record 2897 on short oil to lead the field of 62 doubles with 5476 pinfall total and an average of 228.17.

    Flack/Johnsson will meet their teammates Therese Forsell and Diana Alfredsson, who posted the second-highest series on Monday (2645) to leap from 14th to 4th with 5129 (213.71).

    2008WECTinaHulschPatriciaSchwarz.jpg Tina Hulsch and Patricia Schwarz (l-r) from Germany chalked up the highest block of the day with 2669 to leapfrog from 9th to second with 5182 (215.92). The Germans will meet Mai and Anja, Ginge Jensen who are targeting to defend their title from 2006. The Danes finished third with 5178 (215.75).

    The semi-finals and the final are single-game matches. The winners of the semi-finals will bowl for the title. The losers will tie for the bronze medal.
