Bahamas, Moldova, Puerto Rico withdraw from Women's World Championships

The Organizing Committee of the 2011 Women's World Championships has informed that Bahamas, Moldova, and Puerto Rico have decided not to participate in Hong Kong China. The withdrawal brings the number of participating countries and territories to 33.
More than 50 per cent of the teams are members of the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF, 18); while ten belong to the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) and only five to the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON).
The 33 countries and territories are (in alphabetical order):
Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Catalonia, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Singapore, Sweden, Ukraine, United States, Venezuela and the host country of Hong Kong, China.
172 players and 92 officials such as team managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, mental coaches, technical coaches, sports psychologists, translators and delegates, are registered for the nine-day competition which takes place at bowling center Hong Kong Bowling City, a 40-laner located at EMAX mall in Kowloon Bay, from Saturday Sept. 3 through Sunday, Sept. 11.
All countries but The Philippines have named their players who will compete for the medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters single-elimination match play. 28 countries are supposed to send a full team of six or five players while Catalonia, Israel (2 each), Bulgaria, Latvia and Lithuania (1 each) cannot compete in all disciplines.
The list of players features several gold medalists from the 2009 WWC in Las Vegas spearheaded by two-time gold medalists Clara Juliana Guerrero of Colombia (All Events, Masters) and Korea's Hwang Sun-Ok (Doubles, Team).
Joining Sun-Ok from the 2009 Team champion are Jeon Eun-Hee and Son Yun-Hee as well as substitute Hong Su-Yeon.
Also present in Hong Kong is defending Singles champion Stefanie Nation from the United States and Tsai Hsin-Yi, Chinese Taipei, the sole returning player from the gold medal winning Trio.
The two lane conditioning pattern categories to be used in Hong Kong are long and medium. According to WTBA Playing Rule 4.6.5 the specific patterns will be announced at the Team Managers Meeting (TMM) on Thursday, Sept 1st.
Singles and Doubles will be contested on one oil pattern, while Trios and Team will feature both oil patterns (3 games on each pattern). The Masters will be staged on dual lane condition.
The top four players and teams after six games in Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team, respectively, will advance to the semifinals. The No. 1 meet No. 4 and No. 2 takes on No. 3. The winners will determine the world champion, while losers will share the bronze medal. All matches are single-game matches.
