« Svensson, Cooley shoot 300 to earn No. 1 and 2 seed for TV finals

Dudak topped a field of 105 players, ages 60 and older, with a 1,442 pinfall total bowling games of 245, 258, 268, 234, 199 and 238. He holds a narrow two-pin lead over local player Bob Shank of Fort Wayne, Ind., who finished second with 1,440.
“Being able to bowl pretty much full time this year I’ve really learned how to make adjustments faster and with more confidence,” Dudak said. “You can never assume anything and if something’s not working you need to make a quick change.”
The 62-year-old Dudak, who has competed on the PBA50 Tour since turning 50, made the commitment to bowl full time this year and has been rewarded with eight cashes in eight tournaments.
“I don’t have a lot of big titles but we’ll see if this good start can lead to something big here,” said Dudak, who works as an automotive parts sales manager when not competing in PBA events.
Dudak’s best finish on the PBA50 Tour was 14th in the 2011 PBA Senior Lake County Open and he has several runner-up finishes in PBA regional competition.
The PBA60 Dick Weber Championship is one of two tournaments conducted during the PBA50 Tour season that is limited to players who are 60 and older. The other tournament open to 60-and-over players is the USBC Super Senior Classic.
Rounding out the top five after the first round were Chuck Richardson, The Villages, Fla., 1,421; Don Blatchford, Santa Monica, Calif., 1,398, and Marc Lineberry, Camanche, Iowa, 1,395.
The entire field returns to bowl another six-game qualifying round Friday morning which will determine the top 32 players who will advance to match play Friday afternoon. After the second round of match play Saturday morning, the top five will be determined for the stepladder finals scheduled Saturday afternoon at noon.
