Will the tradition continue? The question of the week is, who is most likely to get a Barbasol shaving cream facial at the conclusion of Sunday’s live ESPN telecast of the Barbasol PBA Players Championship.

In Barbasol’s previous titled events – the 2014 (pictured above) and ’15 Barbasol PBA Tournaments (right) of Champions – winner Jason Belmonte got a ceremonial Barbasol facial courtesy of his friends on tour. This year? Fans will have to wait until the end of the telecast at around 3 p.m. EST Sunday to find out.

In the meantime, Xtra Frame’s exclusive live coverage of the Barbasol PBA Players Championship continues from Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in Columbus, Ohio.

Players Championship coverage began Tuesday with first-round qualifying squads. B and A Squads bowl another eight games Wednesday, leading to Thursday’s 10 a.m. cashers round. Eight-game match play rounds for the top 24 after 24 qualifying games will be covered Thursday at 5 p.m., and Friday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Barbasol, the Official Shaving Cream of the PBA, is based in Ohio where corporate headquarters of its parent company, Perio Inc., are based in nearby Dublin and its Barbasol manufacturing facilities are based in Ashland.

In addition to the Players Championship, Barbasol is the corporate sponsor of the PBA league’s Barbasol Motown Muscle, and currently is conducting the Ultimate PBA Prize Package Sweepstakes which fans ages 13 and older can enter by visiting www.barbasol.com/PBA.

ESPN’s live coverage of “Big February” concludes Sunday with the Barbasol PBA Players Championship finals at 1 p.m. ET. Immediately following the Players Championship finals, ESPN will air the World Bowling Tour Men’s and Women’s Finals, presented by the PBA, at 3 p.m. ET.

Anthony Simonsen displaces Ed Ressler as youngest Masters winner

When 19-year-old Anthony Simonsen (left) won the USBC Masters Sunday, he became the youngest player ever to win a PBA major title (U.S. Open, PBA Tournament of Champions, World Championship or PBA Players Championship).

As reported Sunday, he displaced Mike Aulby for that record. Aulby still holds the PBA National/World Championship record at age 19 years, 93 days.

Simonsen displaced Ed Ressler Jr. as the youngest to win the Masters (Ressler won in 1975 at age 20 years, 119 days).

Jesper Svensson (right) set the youngest Tournament of Champions winner record a week earlier in Shawnee, Okla., at age 20 years, 357 days (note: Svensson turned 21 on Monday in Columbus, Ohio).

The PBA Players Championship youngest winner was Jason Couch at age 23 years, 362 days in 1993 in Indianapolis…and just for the record, the oldest Players Championship winner was Ernie Schlegel at age 52 years, 212 days in 1995 in Pittsburgh.

PBA Regional Update: PBA South, West regions return to action

The Feb. 19-21 weekend includes two PBA Regionals, in the South and West Regions. Paradise Lanes in Spartanburg, S.C., will host the PBA50 Dave Edwards Toyota South Open presented by 900 Global, and Gold Country Lanes in Sutter Creek, Calif., will host the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort Championship.

Kicking off a busy March schedule over the March 4-6 weekend will be the PBA50 Victory Lanes Central Open presented by 900 Global in Galion, Ohio; the Lakewood Holiday Lanes Southwest Open presented by Storm in Lakewood, Colo.; the PBA50 Monte Skeels Allstate Midwest Open presented by Brunswick at Liberty Lanes in Carpentersville, and the Caveman Bowl Northwest/West Open presented by DV8 in Grants Pass. Ore.

The only regional activity over the March 13 weekend is the one-day PBA50 Thunderbowl Midwest Open presented by Columbia 300 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

A busy regional schedule over the March 18-20 weekend includes the PBA50 Fayetteville South Open at Lafayette Lanes in Fayetteville, N.C.; the Odessa Southwest Open presented by Columbia 300 at Astro Bowl in Odessa, Texas; the PBA50 Showtime Lanes Midwest/Central Open presented by DV8 in Virden, Ill.; the PBA50 Rossi Lanes Eastern Open in Elmira, N.Y., and the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau Central/East Open presented by Radical at Bell-Wick Bowl in Hubbard, Ohio.

The March regional calendar concludes over the March 25-27 weekend with the Cooperfield Bowl Houston Challenge presented by 900 Global in Houston, Texas; the South Point West Challenge and Member/Non-Member Doubles, both presented by Track, at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas.
