The eight bowlers who will represent the United States at the 2016 World Bowling Youth Championships this summer have been selected by the Team USA coaching staff. The World Youth Championships will take place at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska, from July 26-Aug. 2.

Junior Team USA veterans Kamron Doyle of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Wesley Low of Palmdale, California, will be joined by United States Bowling Congress Masters champion Anthony Simonsen of Austin, Texas, and collegiate standout Michael Tang of San Francisco on the boys team, which will seek its third consecutive gold medal in the team event.

“We bowled well and had a great time in Hong Kong, and it means everything to be able to go back, especially to bowl for the team title again,” said Doyle, a five-time member of Junior Team USA and two-time Team USA member.

“That was my first time overseas, and it really gave me a chance to see how much talent there is across the world. I feel even more prepared this time, and I’m excited for the opportunity.”

Low also is the defending champion in boys all-events, having captured the title in 2014 with a record 18-game total of 4,224, a 234.6 average.

The girls’ team will consist of reigning National Tenpin Coaches Association Division I National Player of the Year Stephanie Schwartz of Racine, Wisconsin, Julia Bond of Aurora, Illinois, Gazmine Mason of Cranston, Rhode Island, and Jordan Richard of Tecumseh, Michigan. Schwartz also was on the team in Hong Kong.

The Junior Team USA members chosen to compete at the Tournament of the Americas are Sydney Brummett of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Hollyann Johansen of Wichita, Kansas, Kenneth Ryan of Ocean, New Jersey, and Meeco Walker of East Cleveland, Ohio. The four bowlers will compete in the Junior A division, which is for competitors ages 16-19.

The event is being held for the 54th time and also features categories for adult, senior, super senior and youth bowlers ages 12-15.

In the Adult category, Team USA will be represented by Josie Earnest of Nashville, Tennessee, Junior Team USA member Haley Richard of Tecumseh, Michigan, Chris Via of Springfield, Ohio, and Junior Team USA member Thomas Peters of Belleville, Illinois.

The Team USA program dominated the tournament in 2015, claiming 41 of a possible 45 gold medals. The 2016 edition of the Tournament of the Americas is being held at Strikers Family Sportscenter.

“With so many talented players to choose from, making these selections never is an easy process, but we always know when we’re done, we’re going to be well-represented by prepared and excited team members,” said Team USA head coach Rod Ross. “We’ve got two big events coming up, and we’re looking forward to building on past success at both tournaments.”
