05/09/12
Men Division C Singles champion Jerry Daniels teamed with Norbert Buchanan, both United States, to win the Doubles event en route to become the first multiple winner of the 3rd World Seniors Invitational. The duo finished 281 pins ahead of second-place Jaques Lagarde and Jacques Brunet of France.
Their compatriots Willie O. Harrell and Tom Mariani captured the title in Men's A and B Division, while Ernestine Canton and Sabrina Hodge took the gold medal in the Women's division.
The 3rd World Seniors Invitational drew 37 players - 25 men and 12 women - from seven countries: Virgin Islands (12). Brazil (9), France (5), Bahamas (2), Ireland (2), Italy (2) and mere five from the host country United States.
The WSI is open to senior bowlers in three age divisions: Division A: men 50-57 and women 45-52 years old; Division B: men 58-64 years and women 53-59; Division C: men 65 and older and women 60 and older. The age on the day of the start of the Tournament will be used to determine the age group.
Division A and B will receive no handicap. All the participants in the C group will receive for each game played, a bonus of 1 point for each full year they are older than the age of 65 years.
Due to the low number of entries, Men A and B and all women compete in one division, respectively. Bowlers will bowl Singles, Doubles and Trios and a two-day Master's event.
