2015 Women’s World Championships gets underway in Abu Dhabi

2015WWCOpeningCeremoniesDianaZavjalova.jpg2015WWCOpeningCeremoniesPlayersOath2.jpgOn a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon (27°C or 81°F) almost 150 women athletes from 29 countries (the women from Panama are still on their way) marched onto the lanes at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to kick off the Opening Ceremonies of the 2015 Women’s World Championships.

In front of the bowlers, dignitaries, officials, supporters and guests, former World Cup champion Mohammed Khalifa Al Qubaisi, President of the host Emirates Bowling Federation, and outgoing World Bowling President, Kevin Dornberger, United States, welcomed all players and athletes to the Championships for women.

The Women’s World Championships were officially opened by a ceremonial ball rolled by Ms. Noora Al Kaabi (below right), CEO of Two Four 54 and Board member of Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy, who toppled seven pins on her very first ball.

Real action begins with Singles Monday at 9 a.m. GST.

2015WWCLogo.jpg2015WWCCeremonialFirstBallNouraAlKaabi2.jpgThe 2015 Women’s World Championships will be held from December 5-14 at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Almost 150 players from 30 countries will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, five-player Teams, All-Events and Masters in the seven-day competition.

In accordance with the WTBA Playing Rules, the 2015 Women’s World Championships will be contested on two lane conditioning pattern, the 36 ft. Los Angeles pattern and the 43 ft. Tokyo pattern.
