Johnsson moved up four places in the standings on the strength of a 1,827 series Tuesday night. She is averaging 230.31 with 3,685 pins, more than four pins per game better than Mai Ginge Jensen of Denmark. Jensen, who led after eight games, is in second with 3,620 pins and a 226.25 average.

The 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup started this morning with the official practice at the Centro Nacional de Bowling Mampote. This is the first test for the fully refurbished 40-laner which is located several miles outside Caracas. The 73 women (pictured, click on the image to view full size) took on the lanes first for a 2-hour practice session.
The Grand Opening of the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup started with a traditional Venezuelan "Diablo" (devil) dance, followed by the parade of flags. Venezuelan Bowling Federation Eduardo Marchandet, WTBA president Heikki Sarso, and QubicaAMF CEO John Walker offered remarks of general welcome and thanks to all involved with organizing the 2006 event.
There is no unofficial practice in the Centro Nacional de Bowling Mampote in Caracas, Venezuela, prior to the Opening Ceremony this afternoon. None of the bowlers and not even most the officials and the press had a chance to get a look at the fully refurbished 40-laner. Until now. It's "All systems go" with just less than four weeks to the opening ceremony of the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Caracas, Venezuela. The tournament will take place from November 4-10, 2006 in the 40-lane center in Mampote, just outside Caracas. The final line up in Venezuela could well beat the record of 95 participating nations in Singapore 2004.

Good news from the tournament office of the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. The local issues have been resolved and the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will be in Caracas as planned. The tournament runs from November 4 through 10, 2006 in the 40-lane center at Mampote, a short drive outside the main city.

Entries are heating up for the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, planned for Caracas, Venezuela for fourth to 10th November, and the number of countries competing looks as if it may reach the 90 mark. Anne-Marie Board, QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup manager, said: "I am really looking forward to this year's event. There are so many fine players that I know the competition will be fierce but friendly, as is the tradition of this tournament."

"I know there are a lot of rumors about the 42nd annual QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup and I would like to clarify the situation regarding this year's venue. For reasons beyond our control, modernization work at the bowling centre at Mampote, Caracas has been delayed.
Or Aviram and his younger sister Mor were the winners in the Israeli qualifying tournament for the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup to be held November 4-10, 2006 at Mampote Bowling Center in Caracas, Venezuela. Or, the 2005 World Cup runner-up, will make his third World Cup appearance, while Mor qualified for the second time after Singapore 2004.
