QubicaAMF has announced that the
44th Bowling World Cup will be held in Hermosillo, Mexico, from 7th to 15th November 2008. The world's most prestigious annual bowling tournament will be held in a brand new 32-lane center, which will be opening in June. This will mark a record fifth time that the Bowling World Cup will be staged in Mexico.

Beatrix Pesek (pictured) and Bertalan Puskás won the Hungarian Bowling World Cup Qualifier last Sunday in Székesfehérvár from No. 1 seed. 13 women and 45 men battled it out to represent Hungary in the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico from Nov. 7-15, 2008. Pesek, who hasn't lost in a BWC qualifier since 2003, rolled 185 and 189 to come back from a 5-pin deficit against second seeded Franciska Vajda to win her sixth consecutive berth into the BWC, 374-357. Puskás secured his first appearance in the World Cup with a 464 to 415 victory against #4 Zoltán Skobrics. 
Malaysia's most potent bowlers currently -- Zulmazran Zulkifli and former world champion Esther Cheah -- will compete in the AMF World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico on Nov 7-15. The selection of Zulmazran and Esther by the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) proves the congress is serious about ending the country's 40-year-old AMF drought. 
Omer Oren and Mor Aviram will represent Israel in the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, which will be staged from November 7-15, 2008 in Hermosillo, Mexico. Oren won the Israeli BWC qualifier at Gan-Shmuel bowling center while Aviram lost to 16-year-old Shir Levi in the women's finals, two-games-to-one, to finish second. Shir will be unable to participate in Hermosillo for personal reasons and will be replaced by Mor Aviram. 
Lisanne Breeschoten and Maarten Pittens won the QubicaAMF World Cup national finals Sunday in Scheveningen, Netherlands. The winners will represent their country in the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup from November 7-15, 2008 in Hermosillo, Mexico. Both players earned the No. 1 seed after round robin but lost the lead at halfway point of the position round matches against No. 2 seeds Haandrikman and Robin Geeris. Breeschoten and Pittens rebounded with a bunch of strikes in the second half to both win the matches and the tournament. 
Fernando Gutiérrez went to the AMF World Cup in 1992, and made the decision then and there. He wanted to host it someday. In fact, he wanted to host it at his bowling center as soon as possible. Given the prestige of the World Cup, this was not such an unusual ambition. It is the largest single-sport competition in the world, marking its 44th year this November. But it was an unusual request when Gutiérrez made it of the AMF powers-that be who had come to Le Mans in 1992, because Gutiérrez did not own a bowling center and never had.
Omer Oren and Shir Levy won the men's and women's division in the Israeli Bowling World Cup qualifier Thursday at Gan-Shmuel bowling center. After the 18-game preliminaries, Oren, 24, from Netanya, was seeded 8th spot for the 12-player single-elimination finals. He sidelined Aviv Alfital, Liad Leshem and No. 1 seeded Or Aviram to claim the men's title. 16-year-old Levy from Gan-Shmuel, seeded 1st, stunned Israel's 2006 BWC representative, Mor Aviram, the No. 2 seed, with a 2-1 victory (184-148, 166-170, 189-170) in the best-of-three game women's finals.
Bigi Manico and Theo Keel won the Swiss World Cup qualifier September 6-7 at Bowling Lausanne Vidy and will represent their country in the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup from November 7-15, 2008 in Hermosillo, Mexico. It was business as usual for Manico, who won her seventh ticket to the World Cup. In the men's division, Keel secured his first-ever World Cup appearance with a one-pin victory in the final match against Jean-Marc Godel to beat out Sandro Ancarani for the top spot by 20 pins.
In an unexpected turn of events, Philippine team member and brilliant young bowler, Kim Lao, earned the right to represent the country in the 44th Bowling World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico after pulling off an impressive upset over veteran international bowler Liza Del Rosario in the 2008 Bowling World Cup National Title, last Sunday, at the Mall of Asia. Lao will be joined by 34-year-old businessman Jeff Carabeo to represent the Philippines on Nov. 7 to 15 in Mexico. 
Renan Zoghaib and Roberta Rodrigues won the 17th Brazil Open Cup QubicaAMF 2008 at Tiger Bowling Center Lanes in Sao Paulo, Brazil and will represent Brazil in the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup from November 7-15, 2008 in Hermosillo, Mexico. Zoghaib (l.) and Rodrigues (r.) led the men’s and women’s division after 18 games with 208.28 and 200.06 average, respectively, en route to earn the No. 1 seed for the five-player stepladder finals; a huge advantage as the No. 1 seed must be defeated twice to win the title.
Jack Guay of Calgary, Province of Alberta and Jennifer Park from Nanaimo, British Columbia won the BWC National Finals conducted by the Bowling Proprietors Association of Canada (BPAC). The National finals were held on the 48 lanes of Planet Bowl in Toronto, Province of Ontario, on March 15 and 16. The 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will be held November 7-15 in Hermosillo, Mexico in a new 32 AMF lane "BOL 300" to be inaugurated in early summer.

The state of the art 32-lane Bol 300 is due to open in early summer. It has the latest QubicaAMF bowling equipment and prides itself in offering wonderful facilities including great spectator viewing and an excellent restaurant. All eligible countries are invited to send one man and one woman to represent them in the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. 
Team USA's Bill Hoffman (left) defeated Jason Belmonte in the decisive game, 221-181, to win the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup at Continent Bowling Center in St. Petersburg, Russia. The 33-year-old right-hander ended an almost 12-year U.S. drought in the men's division at the World Cup with a two-games-to-one victory over Belmonte, who finished second after leading the event since day one qualifying. Hoffman, seeded second, swept No. 3 seeded Andres Gomez in the opening match of the three-player shootout, 2-0.
Tournament leader Ann-Maree Putney (pictured) of Australia fired two big scores to capture the women's title in the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia, from top seed. In the best-of-three games finals, Putney, 37, flew past her opponent, No. 3 seeded Lee Sun Hee, Korea, in game one, 280-201, and secured the victory with a 247-226 win in game two. In the opening match, Lee, 36, edged 18-year-old Tina Hulsch, Germany, in a close opening match, two-games to none.

The stepladder finals will be contested in best-of-three game format. Hoffman will take on Gomez in the opening match. The winner will bowl Belmonte for the title. 
1999 World Masters champion Ann-Maree Putney (center), Australia, Tina Hulsch (lef), Germany, and Lee Sun Hee (right), Korea, emerged as the top 3 women bowlers in the match play round of 8 in the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. The live TV stepladder finals will be contested in best-of-three game format Saturday, Nov. 10 and start at 10 a.m. with the ladies final. The men will follow at 2 p.m. In the opening match, Hulsch will bowl Lee for the right to challenge Putney for the title. Australia with Putney and men's leader Jason Belmonte have already secured the country title.

The top 24 women - 12 from Europe and six each from Asia and America - took on the lanes at Continent Bowling Center in St. Petersburg, Russia for another eight game block to cut to the top 8 players in the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Qualifying leader Ghislaine van der Tol (left), Netherlands 2nd placed Sharon Koh, Malaysia and 4th placed Lee Sun Hee (right), Korea traded the lead almost every game. When the dust had settled, Van der Tol had regained the lead and will be the top seed for round robin match play on Friday.
