The multiple World and European champion felled 1805 pins over eight games, an average of 225.63. Evgenia Tsarkova, Russia, finisher her block with a huge 269, the highest game in the tournament thus far, to jump into second place with 1751 (218.88). The 66 women will return on Tuesday afternoon for the second qualifying block.
The 45th edition of the prestigious QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup got underway on Sunday morning, Nov. 15, 2009, with the men's and women's official practice at the Melaka International Bowling Center in Melaka, Malaysia. QubicaAMF and the Melaka International Bowling Center were delighted to welcome not one but two Malaysian Ministers to the center on Friday, November 13th, in advance of the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Datuk Ahmed Shabery Bin Cheek, the Malaysian Minister for Youth
and Sports, took time out from his busy schedule to come to
Melaka, look at the center and meet the players. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Mohamed Ali Bin Mohamed Rustam, had also visited the center.
Team USA members Walter Ray Williams Jr. (pictured left) and Tennelle Milligan (right) enter the 2009 QubicaAMF World Cup next week hoping to address a couple of issues. The newly-built 52-lane Malacca InÂÂterÂnaÂtional Bowling Centre, which will stage the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup from Nov 15-19, has received mixed reviews from national bowlers Zulmazran ZulÂkifli (l.) and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman (r.). The duo, who will represent Malaysia in the tournament, took to the lanes for a two-hour practice session on Tuesday. Zulmazran said he was generally satisfied with the lane conditions there.

2005 World Cup Champion Michael Schmidt of Tyndall, Manitoba, and Montreal, Quebec's Caroline Lagrange (pictured) are days away from a trip around the globe to represent Canada in the bowling world's annual gathering of nations, the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Malaysia will Schmidt's fourth World Cup in 5 years. Lagrange is a newcomer to the World Cup's international level, USBC silver level coach Sandy Lowe, Lindsay, Ontario, will
accompany the young Canadian talent to Malaysia.
Will represent Mexico in the 2009 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup
Daniel Falconi (l.) and Sayuri Yamada (r.) claimed the men's and women's title in the high-scoring Copa Mexico 2009 and will represent their country in the 2009 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. In the championship match in best-of-three game format, Falconi, the No. 2 seed, swept tournament leader Enrique Gutierrez, two-games-to-none, while top seeded Yamada came back from being down 0-1 to defeat No. 2 Iliana Lomeli, 2-1.

Soft-spoken and dignified Paeng Nepomuceno, the world's greatest tenpin bowler, has named his strongest rivals in this year's Bowling World Cup finals in Malaysia. Nepomuceno, who earned his 16th trip to the World Cup, and female kegler Liza del Rosario (pictured left with Paeng), won the right to represent the country in Malaysia by posting lopsided victories during the national finals held last month.

With just three weeks to go before the start of the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Melaka, Malaysia, 82 countries have named 81 men and 63 women, who will participate in the prestigious event to be led at Melaka International Bowling Center from Nov. 13-20. The record of 95 participating countries was set in Singapore in 2004, where 95 men and 73 women participated. The United States (men) and Singapore (women) are the defending champions.

Isabelle Sacco (l.) and and her brother-in-law, Thierry Sacco (r.) will represent France in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Melaka, Malaysia. The duo already represented their country in the 2005 World Cup in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Isabelle, who his married with Thierry's brother Francois, also participated in 1998 (Kobe, Japan), 2000 (Lisbon, Portugal) and last year (Hermosillo, Mexico), while Thierry bowled in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2006.
Liza Del Rosario earns women's spot in Philippine BWC Qualifier
4-time Bowling World Cup winner Paeng Nepomuceno and Liza Del Rosario (pictured) survived a challenging 3-day contest en route to win the Philippine Bowling World Cup Qualifier and to represent their country at the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Malaysia. Nepomuceno, the only 4-time BWC champion (1976, '80, '92, '96) defeated No. 3 Paulo Valdez and No. 1 Benshir Layoso in the men's stepladder finals. Top seeded Del Rosario topped Krizziah Tabora to earn the women's spot.Â
Wendy Kok and Maarten Pittens (pictured) won the Dutch Bowling World Cup Saturday at Chandra Bowling in Schiedam and will represent their country in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup to be held from Nov. 13-20, 2009 at Melaka International Bowling Center in Melaka, Malaysia. Both players led their division since the qualifying which was conducted two weeks ago and widened their lead during the Round of 16 and the round robin match play finals.
Bigi Manico from Zurich and Larry Vontobel (pictured left) from Lausanne took different routes to win the Swiss Bowling QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup Qualifier Sunday at bowling center BESECO in Rümikon near Winterthur. While Manico, the local favorite, cruised to victory in the women's division with a 406 pin buffer, Vontobel was down by 77 pins heading into the final match play game. Manico and Vontobel will represent Switzerland in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cupin Malaysia.
The Melaka International Bowling Center was officially opened for business last month by the Chief Minister of Melaka and now all involved are looking forward to welcoming bowlers from around the world in mid-November for the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. As for the tournament, 90 countries have now indicated that they will be sending representatives. The qualifying rounds start on 16th November with
the finals on 19th.
