Czech Republic's Kutina, Cifka set the pace in Doubles
Anton Stiel (pictured) from Austria led a field of 44 players, 41 men and 3 women, from seven countries in the first of 17 qualifying squads of the 8th Columbia 300 Vienna Open en route to earn an automatic berth into the finals on Sunday. Oct. 3. Stiel losed out his six-game series with a 232 high game to win Squad 1 with 1232 pinfall total and an average of 205.33.Second-placed Karel Kutina and team mate Miroslav Cifka, both Czech Republic, took the early lead in the Doubles competition with 2435.Â
The 8th Columbia 300 Vienna Open got underway with a 9-pin No-Top Tournament Monday evening at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. The event, which traditionally kicks off the five-day qualifying portion of the European Bowling Tour Major tournament, drew 65 players. Each player bowled five games in which every 9-count was a strike. 1 out
of 4 from each group or a total of 16 players received a free entry for
the main event.

The 8th annual Columbia 300 Vienna Open is the 15th stop of the 2010 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Gold" events. The tournament will be held from Tuesday Sep. 28 through Sunday Oct. 3, 2010 at 32-lane Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. As of today, 303 players from 26 countries including several male and female professional bowlers have registered forthe popular event.
