Hans Glasl averages 232 to lead Dream-Bowl Palace Open after first qualifying day

    Local bowler shoots 1392 series to lead the opening squad at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring

    2013EBT11HansGlasl.jpg Local bowler Hans Glasl (pictured left) rolled six games between 206 and 264 Saturday at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring/Munich, Germany to take the early lead after the opening squad of the 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger.

    Glasl averaged 232.00 to hold a 36-pin lead over Daria Kovalova. The Ukrainian, who studies in the United States, averaged 218 for 1308, including a 280 game, and added 48 pins women's handicap to sit in second place with 1356.

    Alexander Tarsoly of Hungary was a distant third with 1263 and was followed by Anže Grabrijan of Slovenia in fourth place with 1250. Shirley Lazar and Tom Janetzki of Germany rounded out the top 6 with 1242 and 1237, respectively.

    The top six of a separate leaderboard of Squads 1-7, who will not finish among the top 50, will earn automatic berths into the finals.

    Qualifying continues Sunday, July 21, with Squads 3-5 scheduled for noon, 4 and p.m. CEST.

    2013EBT11DreamBowlPalaceOpenLogo_small.jpg The 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 11th stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the fourth out of six EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 20-28 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The DBO offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 6.500 Euro going to the winner, 4.500 to the runner-up, and 3.500 and 2.500 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Low to cash is 64th place for 500 Euro.

    The Dream-Bowl Palace Open features a 42 feet Kegel Sport Series Autobahn 2542 lane conditioning pattern with 25.85 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Saturday July 20, through Saturday, July 27, with the last qualifying squad 18 scheduled for 8 p.m. CEST. The qualifying winner will receive a 1.000 Euro bonus.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 64 players including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 6 from Squads 1-7, the top 4 from the Desperado Squad and the top four from a "High-Low" list (lowest and highest game added together; additional 10,-€ per squad) will qualify for the finals on Sunday, July 27. The top 8 qualifiers will receive two byes, while qualifiers 9-16 will bypass the first round of the finals.

    Three four-game rounds each starting from scratch will trim the field to 40, 24 and then twelve players, who will carry forward their third-round pinfall total into the first of three three-game rounds which will trim the field to eight and then four players who will determine the champion.

    2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 tournaments in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite events.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the Dream-Bowl Palace Open gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

    Points are tabulated throughout the season and the top 12 men and the top 12 women qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the EBT Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.
