Services held Wednesday for Blanchards' infant daughter; Brian Kretzer wins 15th PBA Regional title in Indiana

Entries continue to roll into the PBA's Seattle office for PBA World Series of Bowling V, which returns to the South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas Oct. 25-Nov. 3.

With a $750 all-inclusive entry fee for five PBA Tour events – the Cheetah, Viper, Chameleon and Scorpion Championships – along with the extended 2012-13 season's final major championship, the PBA World Championship, a capacity field of 240 players is expected.

Entries are still being accepted online for PBA members via pba.com, or by calling Membership Services at 206-332-9688. The entry deadline is Oct. 12 or whenever the field fills (whichever comes first). The World Series is open to PBA members only.

In addition to the five PBA Tour events, PBA members and non-members are invited to enter the All-Region Singles and Doubles tournaments (Nov. 1-3), hosted by the PBA West Region, for extra entry fees.

All WSOB participants will be eligible for discounted room rates of $50 weekdays and $90 weekends at South Point Hotel through Nov. 3. To lock in the special rates, rooms must be reserved by Oct. 4. The World Series will again conclude with multiple television shows for delayed airing on ESPN. In addition to the five PBA Tour finals, the schedule will include a new PBA50 Tour Finals, a new PBA Regional Invitational Finals, and the WTBA's World Bowling Tour Men's and Women's Finals presented by the PBA.

PBA's Xtra Frame online bowling channel also will provide more than 100 hours of live coverage during the World Series.

Services held Wednesday for Blanchards' infant daughter

Memorial services were held Wednesday for the infant daughter of 2012 PBA Rookie of the Year Josh Blanchard and his wife, Aimee. Grayson Lynn Blanchard died on July 25 from complications during her birth.

A memorial fund for Grayson Lynn Blanchard to assist the family with medical and funeral expenses has been established on gofundme.com

PBA Regional Roundup: Brian Kretzer wins 15th title in Indiana

Brian Kretzer (pictured left) of Dayton, Ohio, defeated E.J. Tackett of Huntington, Ind., 213-179, to win the PBA Farmer's State Bank/Roto Grip Central/Midwest Open at Angola Bowl in Angola, Ind., on Sunday for a $2,400 first prize and his 15th career PBA Regional title.

Tyler Jensen (right) of Fort Worth, Texas, defeated former PBA member Duane Mellinger of Auburn, Colo., 277-224, to win his 12th PBA Regional title in the PBA Lakewood Ebonite Southwest Open at Holiday Lanes in Lakewood, Colo., on Sunday. Jensen earned $2,500.

Robert Harvey of Boise, Idaho, came within a "blowout" 7-10 split of a perfect game in defeating John Dudak of Orland Park, Ill., 298-247, to win the PBA St. Charles Lanes Midwest/Central Open at St. Charles (Mo.) Lanes on Saturday.

Harvey, who missed a perfect game on his final ball in the title match, was also close to perfection in the semifinal round when he defeated Don Griffin of Afton, Mo., 289-242. Harvey recorded his second career PBA50 Regional title and earned $1,600.

Steve Pavlinko (center with Mil-Ray Foods' Millie and Cecil Raymond) of Sewell, N.J., defeated George Tignor of Winchendon, Mass., 213-161, to win the PBA50 Mil-Ray Foods Eastern Open presented by Roto Grip at Playdrome in Cherry Hill, N.J., on Sunday. Pavlinko, who turned 50 in October, led qualifying by 119 pins en route to his second straight PBA50 regional title and a $1,500 payday.

Dave Sill of Titusville, Fla., defeated Ed Tenan of Hayes, Va., 198-170, 176-236, 216-191, in the best-of-three-game title match to win his third PBA Regional title in the PBA50 Edac Systems Yorktown Southern Open at AMF York Lanes in Yorktown, Va., on Sunday.

The previous week, Bill McCorkle of Westerville, Ohio, defeated Larry Graybeal of Elizabethton, Tenn., 233-214, 235-179, in the best-of-three-game title match to win his sixth regional title and $1,900 first prize in the PBA50 Wilson & Sons Termite and Pest Control Super Senior Southern Open at George Pappas' Victory Lanes in Mooresville, N.C., on Sunday, July 21.

Kicking off the August regional schedule and leading into the PBA50 Tour South Shore Open in Hammond, Ind., will be the traditional PBA50 Allstate Insurance Midwest/Central Open at Beverly Lanes in Arlington Heights, Ill., Aug. 3-4.

Also scheduled for the Aug. 3-4 weekend will be the PBA Boss Snow Plows/Track Central/Midwest Open (a Saturday-only event) at PinHeads Bowling Center in Fishers, Ind., and the Luci Bonneau Memorial Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles event at Palace Lanes in Houston, Texas.

Quick Notes

PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber and wife Tracy are grandparents for the fourth time, thanks to the arrival of Leo Terrell Weber on Tuesday. Pete's youngest daughter, Ashley Marie, is the mother of the eight-pound, two-ounce new arrival.

ESPN Classic will air four PBA League telecasts from the 2013 season in the weeks ahead. Back-to-back one-hour PBA League programs will air on Monday, Aug. 12, at 10 and 11 p.m. ET. Additional PBA League shows will re-air on Monday, Aug. 19, at 11 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 26, also at 11 p.m. ET.
