Team USA's Chris Barnes sets the pace in Squad C; sits in fourth place after Round 1 Qualifying

    Germany's Tobias Börding leads the 82-player field at the World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland with 1305 and an average of 261; score to make the first cut in 24th place is raised to 1071 (214.20 average)

    2014BWCChrisBarnes.jpg2014BWCTobiasBording.jpgFresh off the PBA World Series of Bowling VI, which concluded on Sunday in Las Vegas, Chris Barnes (left) of the Unites States, set the pace in the third and last squad of the men's division at the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup with 1178 or an average of 235.60 for five games.

    The six-time WTBA World Champion and 17-time PBA champion of Double Oak, Texas rolled games of 258, 254, 209, 243 and 214 Tuesday night Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland and jumped into fourth place in the overall standings after five of twenty games of qualifying.

    Germany's Tobias Börding (above right) remained unchallenged atop the 82-player leaderboard. The German national team member fired games of 254, 275, 258, 267 and 251 in Squad B for 1305 total or an average of 261.

    2014BWCOronCohen.jpg2014BWCMykhayloKalika.jpgSquad A leaders Oron Cohen (left) of Israel and Biboy Rivera, Philippines, stayed in second and third place with 1210 (242 average) and 1203 (240.60), respectively.

    Barnes, who earned his first berth into the World Cup by winning the PBA Trials in January, pushed back Dhruv Sarda of India (1142) to fifth place.

    World Games champion Manuel Otalora of Colombia and Adam Shrubb of Gibraltar slipped one spot to sixth and seventh place with 1134 and 1124, respectively.

    2014BWCArtursLevikins.jpg2014BWCMichalBrachaniec.jpgMykhaylo Kalika (above right) of Ukraine was second to Barnes in Squad C and beat out Arturs Levikins (left) of Latvia for eighth place by nine pins, 1122 to 1113. Kalika had three consecutive games in the 240s while Levikins started his series with a high game of 295.

    Macau's Choi Io Fai and Michal Brachaniec (right) of the host country Poland are currently tied for 24th place and last place to survive the qualifying cut with 1071 total and an average of 214.20. The top 24 players after 20 games of qualifying will advance to the intermediate round.

    The men will return on Wednesday for the second block of qualifying. Squad B will start at 8 a.m., Squad C will follow at 2.30 p.m. and Squad A will conclude the day at 9 p.m. CET.

    Live coverage and live streaming commences on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
