Alexander von Maravic takes early lead in 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger

    43 players kick off the European Bowling Tour "gold" tournament on Saturday; Von Maravic and Squad 2 leader Cornelia Glasl pocket a 200 Euro bonus

    43 players, including four women, from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia, Slovenia and United States hit the lanes at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany, on Saturday to kick off the 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger, a European Bowling Tour "Gold" tournament.

    Alexander von Maravic and Marcel Wagner, Germany, tied in the opening squad at 1221, an average of 203.50.

    Tie-breaker in qualifying is the higher five-game total. Van Maravic started with a low game of 156 and closed out with 230 and 248 to take first place, while Wagner was seeded second behind high games of 230 and 237 and a low game of 172.

    2015EBT12CorneliaGlasl.jpgIn addition to earning bragging rights as the early tournament leader, Van Maravic (pictured above receiving his bonus from tournament organizer Manuel Mrosek, right) also earned a 200 Euro bonus for winning the squad.

    Squad 2 leader Cornelia Glasl (right), Germany, was the only other player on Saturday, who surpassed the 1200-bar, a 200 average. Glasl, who also received a 200 Euro bonus, toppled 1157 pins and added 48 pins women's handicap to sit in third place with 1205 total. Rounding out the top 5 were Max Zuhl, Germany, and Ron Hurt, United States, with 1197 and 1195, respectively.

    Qualifying commences Sunday, July 19, with Squads 3-5 scheduled to start at noon, 4 and 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).

    2015TrackDBPOpenLogo_small.jpg The 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 12th stop of the 2015 European Bowling Tour season and the second of three EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 18-26 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The Track DBP Open offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 7.000 Euro going to the winner, 5.000 to the runner-up, and 3.000 and 2.000 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Final cash spot is 64th place to pay 600 Euro.

    The tournament features a 40-feet lane conditioning pattern with 25.92 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Saturday July 18, through Saturday, July 25, with the last qualifying squad 20 scheduled for 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).

    The winner of squad 1-9 each receive a 200 bonus, squad 10-16 winners get 350 Euro and the winners of squad 17-20 earn 500 Euro.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game (maximum is 300) throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    Total 64 players will advance to the finals on Sunday, July 26, including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus top 2 of Squads 8 & 9, top 4 of Squads 1-7, top 4 from the Desperado Squad and top four from a "High-Low" list (two-game total of lowest and highest game; additional 10 Euro per squad).

    The top 8 qualifiers earn two byes moving them into the Round of 16, while qualifiers 9-16 receive a first-round bye having to compete in the Round of 28.

    The finals will kick off with three four-game rounds, each beginning from scratch, which will trim the field to 36, 16 and then four players. Those four will carry over their pinfall total into the eliminator-format finals featuring three one-game rounds.

    All four players bowl the opening game, with the lowest-scoring player after five games being eliminated. In the two rounds to follow, the same "low man out" format applies. The last man standing will be declared the champion.

    2015EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 17 tournaments in 13 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and eight "Satellite" events. All 17 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 870.000 Euro or 961.500 U.S. Dollar.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.

    Top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus top 2 of Squads 8 & 9, top 4 of Squads 1-7, top 4 from the Desperado Squad and top four from a "High-Low" list will advance to the finals.

     


    Tie Rules (Qualifying)
    In case of a tie in the qualifying, "the highest positioned player will be the player scoring the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the lowest game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned player will be the player with the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the two lowest games, etc."
