Robert Andersson (l.) from Sweden won his second European Bowling Tour title this season after the Husqvarna International in April when he defeated No. 1 seeded Krista Pöllänen, Finland, in the title match of the 29th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona, 218-206 (including handicap). In the opening match of the three-player stepladder finals, Andersson topped his team mate, Martin Larsen (right), 208-174. The duo won the gold medal in the Doubles at the 2006 World Championships and silver at the recent European Championships.

Pöllänen moves to the top in 29th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona
Krista Pöllänen (left) posted the highest six-game qualifying series in the 29th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona thus far to move to the top of the leaderboard after 10 of 14 squads. The long-time Finnish national team member had a high game of 264 and three 240-plus games for 1416, a 236.00 average, and added 48 pins handicap for 1464 pinfall total.
Previous leader Wu Siu Hong, Hong Kong, slipped to second with 1380. World Ranking Masters champion Stuart Williams, England, is third with 1378 and Martin Paulsson, Sweden, is fourth with 1371. Rounding out the top 5 is Tim Mack (right), United States, with 1368. Qualifying ends on Saturday with four more qualifying squads. There is no Desperado Squad. 48 players will qualify for the finals on Sunday, July 29: The 14 qualifying leaders, the top 28 from the qualifying standings plus the next six women in the qualifying standings.
Those 48 players will bowl 4 games with 50% of the pinfall from the qualification being carried forward. The top 24 will qualify for the second round and will bowl another 4 games with the pinfall being carried forward. The top 3 advance to the stepladder finals (one-game matches).
