Sweden Mikael Kanold rolled games of 248 and 234 to win the final round of 4 in the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament in Tilburg, Netherlands with 482 pinfall total. The Swede pocketed 10.000 Euro and 100 ranking points for winning the third stop and the second "major" of the 2008 European Bowling Tour.

Two of Europe's finest bowlers, Osku Palermaa, Finland, and Martin Larsen, Sweden led the penultimate qualifying squad en route to move into third and fourth place in the overall standings.
Palermaa tied second-placed Wesley Selier, Netherlands, with 1438 but finished third due to the lower last game, 256 to 300. Larsen was eight pins behind with 1428.

Van den Heuvel wins qualifying in Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament
Menno van den Heuvel (pictured left), Netherlands, won the qualifying in the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands. Van den Heuvel totaled 1474 pins and averaged 245.67 for six games. The Dutch national team member and the next 19 players earned one bye for tomorrow's finals. His compatriot Wesley Selier (right) was second with 1438 including one of three perfect games. Two of Europe's finest bowlers, Osku Palermaa, Finland, and Martin Larsen, Sweden led the penultimate qualifying squad en route to move into third and fourth place in the overall standings.
Palermaa tied second-placed Wesley Selier, Netherlands, with 1438 but finished third due to the lower last game, 256 to 300. Larsen was eight pins behind with 1428.
Rikke Holm Rasmussen (left) was the top-ranked woman in the field with 1400 including handicap, good for 9th place. The Dane was one of nine women, who survived the first cut. Yoan Alix (right), France, hit the cutoff number for 20th place with 1357 (226.17), while women's European Doubles champion Anja Ginge Jensen, Denmark, took the 50th and last spot to advance with 1309 pinfall total including handicap (210.17 scratch). The Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament is the third of 18 stops and the second "Major" of this year's European Bowling Tour. The tournament offers total prize money of 55.500 Euro or approximately 82,000 U.S. Dollar. The winner will receive the 10.000 Euro top prize.
According to the organizers, the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament is the world's first tournament that features "real combined dual lane condition". The left lane is oiled with a 44 feet long pattern, while the right lane is dressed with a 33 feet short pattern.
The top 50 players after qualifying plus the top 10 from a combined standings of Squads 1-6 (a total of 60 players) advanced to the finals on Sunday, Feb. 10. The top 20 qualifiers will bypass the first round.
The other 40 players will bowl 4 games with 50 per cent of the qualifying pinfall being carried forward. The top 20 (seeded 21-40) will meet the qualifying leaders (seeded 1-20) in the second round.
The players will be seeded into groups of four players each and will determine the champion in five rounds over two games total pinfall. Basically the top two players plus four 'lucky losers' each in rounds 2 and 3, advance to the next round and will be reseeded according to pinfall in the previous round.
The field will be cut from 40 to 24, 16, 8 and the then four, who will battle it out for the title.
