Storm will join the Gutperle financial group as sponsor of the 2nd Gutperle Viernheim Open 2006. The Viernheim Open, which is the 15th out of 20 stops of the 2006 European Bowling Tour and one of its "majors", offers total prize fund of 100.000 Euro and a 25.000 Euro top prize. The 2005 tournament had record 418 entries. PBA exempt bowler Michael Fagan walked away the winner.

Online registration has opened a week ago for the 2006 event, scheduled for September 9-17 at Bowling Center Viernheim in Viernheim, Germany. "Bowlers' interest is already very high," tournament director Michael Lehmann said. "I am really surprised how many international bowlers have registered by now who haven't participated in 2005. If this keeps on growing we can break our own entry record."

According to the new EBT rules the 2006 Viernheim Open will give 8 pins handicap for women bowlers instead of the 7 pins given in 2005. We should also mention that from now on all players should be aware of the ETBF rules regarding late cancellations in tour stops and the penalty system that allows the ETBF to fine and suspend bowlers who violate these rules.
