Second gold medal for Korea in Men's Doubles at 21st Asian Championships

Kuwait takes the silver medal; Indonesia gets bronze

Hong Hae-Sol and Choi Yong-Kyu (pictured left, r-l) captured the second gold medal for the Korean men's team as the duo won the Doubles competition with 2682 six-game total and an average of 223.50.

Yong-Kyu led the team with the field-best 1444 series, an average of 240.67, and Hae-Sol added 1238.

The duo had games of 470, 415, 479, 490, 400 and 428 in Squad A to hold a 44-pin lead over Indonesia's Ryan Lalisang and Yeri Ramadona (pictured right, r-l), who checked in with 2638.

Basil Al-Anzi and Khaled Al-Dubyyan (left, r-l), Kuwait, led Squad B with 2672 but fell 10 pins short of the gold medal and settled for the silver medal. Lalisang/Ramadona took bronze.

Shusako Asato of Japan started his 1344 series with a 297 game and his team mate Shogo Wada added 1267 to land in fourth place with 2611, just 17 pins short of the bronze medal.

Thailand's Phumin Klanbida and Yannaphon Larpapharat were fifth with 2591. Singles champion Cho Young-Seon and his partner Jang Dong-Chul were sixth with 2588 including a 512 game, the highest game of the day.

It was the second gold medal for the Korean men in as many events. Hong Kong's Wu Siu Hong overtook the lead in All Events after 12 out of 24 games (combined results of Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team) with 2809 and an average of 234.08. Yousif Falah, Bahrain, was second with 2762. Cho Young-Seon and Choi Yong-Kyu, both Korea, were third and fourth with 2742 and 2740.

The 107 men from 20 countries - Australia, Bahrain, Chinese, Taipei, Egypt, Hong, Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand and UAE - will return on Wednesday afternoon for the first 3-game block of the Trios competition on medium oil.
