2011INAOpenNewHuiFenYannaphonLarpapharat.jpgYannaphon Larp-apharat (r.) of Thailand and Singapore's New Hui Fen (l.) both rolled a 192 game en route to win the men's and women's open masters titles in the 9th Indonesia International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships Monday at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Both players earned the No. 1 seed for the six-player stepladder finals after leading the second round of the finals averaging 217 and 214.50 over ten games, respectively.

Yannaphon, who has won the Macau China International Open earlier this month to end a five-year drought between titles, had to sit an wait watch two three-player shootout matches which determined his opponent.

2011INAOpenTop6Men.jpgIn the opening match sixth seeded Mohammed Al-Zaidan, Kuwait, eliminated No. 4 Zulmazran Zulkifli, Malaysia (191) and No. 5 Surasak Manuwong, Thailand (231) with a huge 245 game. Pictured right are the top six men.

In a close semifinal match, his compatriot Basel Al-Anzi, seeded third, edged Al-Zaidan and No. 2 Shaker Al-Hassan, UAE, 218-214-211, for the right to bowl Yannaphon for the title. Al-Anzi had to defeat the top seed twice to win the title.

2011INAOpenTop6Women.jpgThe Kuwaiti won the first game, 208-199, but the Thai nipped Al-Anzi in the deciding second game, 192-191, to win his second international title in three weeks and the top prize of 150 million Indonesian Rupees (approx. US$17,475).

Singaporean bowlers dominated the women's open masters competition taking the top four spots for the stepladder finals. 19-year-old New Hui Fen and her compatriots, 2011 European Bowling Tour Masters champion Cherie Tan, last week's Hong Kong International Open winner Shayna Ng and Fok Ka Wai were joined by ABF Tour Hong Kong champion, Tannya Roumimper, Indonesia, seeded fifth and No. 6 Wendy Chai, Malaysia. Pictured left are the top six women.

2011INAOpenNewHuiFen2.jpgRoumimper (210) ousted Chai (199) and Ka Wai (158) in the opening match and then sidelined Ng and Tan in the semifinal, 223-201-185, to challenge Hui Fen for the title.

The Indonesian was unable to throw consecutive strikes before the tenth frame which allowed Hui Fen to get away with two open frames thanks to a three-bagger in frames 5-7. The Singaporean (pictured right) won the first international tournament of her career, 192-187, en route to pocket 50 million rupees (approx. US$5,825).

The top 16 Asian men and the top 16 Asian women advanced to the seventh and last leg of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour this season, which will be held at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center on Tuesday, July 26th. The top 16 men and top 16 women in the 2011 ABF Tour rankings will qualify for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions (dates and venue to be determined).
