The Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2018 is the fifth stop on the 2018 European Bowling Tour and the second of three EBT “Silver” events this season, the middle of the five EBT tournament categories (platinum, gold, silver, bronze and satellite).

It marks the return, after a one-year hiatus, of the HBST to Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands, which burned down two weeks after the 2016 HBST. The new 24-lane bowling center, now called “Dolfijn | The Plays To Be”, will host the 2018 edition from April 15 to 22.

Players will compete for total prize fund of 45.750 Euro with 6.000 Euro going to the winner, 4.000 Euro to the first runner-up while the third and fourth place finishers take home 3.000 and 2.000 Euro, respectively. Low to cash is 40th place, worth 500 Euro.

Women receive 8 pins handicap each game (up to 292 – maximum score is 300), an equality handicap provided to women in all EBT events.

The top male and the top female qualifier receives 1.000 Euro apiece. There is a 250 Euro extra prize for each daily high series and a 1.000 Euro bonus for the leader of squad 5.

Qualifying kicks off Sunday evening, April 15, and runs through Saturday, April 21, with the final Squad 12 slated for 6 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST). Qualifying concludes with the ultimate one-game Desperado Squad at 9.30 p.m.

Total 40 players qualify for the finals on Sunday, April 22, including the top 30 in the overall qualifying standings, the top 6 from a separate leaderboard of the squads conducted April 15-17, and the top 4 of the Desperado Squad.

The top 4 qualifiers receive a first-round bye. The other 36 players bowl six games from scratch to cut to the top 12 (seeded 5-16) who will join the top 4 qualifiers (seeded 1-4) in the eliminator finals. Those 16 players will be divided into four groups of four players each for the first of three eliminator rounds.

All four players of each group will bowl a two-game match with the two lowest scoring players eliminated. The two highest scoring players advance to the next round. The field will be cut to 8 players (2 groups) and then four players (1 group), who determine the top 4 places in the last eliminator round.

Immediately following the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament is the 11h European Bowling Tour Masters, which will be contested on Monday, April 23, also at Dolfijn bowling center Tilburg.

After the Aalborg International has been canceled, the 2018 European Bowling Tour features 12 tournaments in 10 countries including two “platinum”, two “gold”, three “silver”, two “bronze” and three “satellite” events, which will offer total prize fund of roughly 625.000 Euro.

The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 8 men and top 8 women, who will be eligible to compete in the 12th EBT Masters July 8, 2019 at Bowling Chamartín in Madrid, Spain.
