Michael Mak of Hong Kong (left) continued hot hand and captured his third title in 10 days and the second consecutive on the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) Tour defeating Hardy Rachmadian (right), Indonesia, in roll-off on home turf Monday at South China Athletic Association Bowling Center in Hong Kong, China.

In an all-Korean women’s final, Han Kyeo Rae topped Lee Na Young, 241-211, to seal the victory.

Fresh off his victories in the 16th Chinese Taipei International Open and the ABF Tour Chinese Taipei leg, finished second in the 42nd Hong Kong International Open yesterday to qualify for the Hong Kong leg. The top 16 men and women in the Hong Kong International Open determined the ABF Tour Hong Kong leg champion in single-elimination match play.

By using the World Bowling scoring system Mak flew past Basel Al-Anzi of Kuwait in the opening round, 268-201, and then eliminated Diwan Rezaldy of Indonesia, 243-223. After ousting his compatriot Rickle Kam in the semi-finals by a whisker, 245-244, Mak defeated Rachmadian in the men’s title match, 39-27 in roll-off after a 209-209 tie, to wrap up the title.

Rachmadian earned his spot in the final by defeating his compatriot and Hong Kong International Open winner, Ryan Lalisang in the other semi-final match, 253-208.

On the women’s side, three out four Korean women reached the semi-finals. Han Kyeo Rae (left), who eliminated Joey Yip of Hong Kong, 240-203, and Nadia Pramanik of Indonesia, 223-212, in the round of 16 and 8, respectively, ousted compatriot Kim Kyung Sil to advance to the title match.

In the other semi-final match, Lee Na Young (right) sidelined the last non-Korean bowler, Tannya Roumimper of Indonesia, 257-182, to set up an all-Korean finale. Han, who averaged 240 for four games, closed with 241 to seal the victory.

Both champions received US$1,000 apiece while the runner-ups got US$500. The losers of the semi-finals garnered US$250 each.

Winston Chan, Vice President of the Macau, China Bowling Association, presented the trophy and prizes to the women’s winners while Vivien Lau, ABF Tour Committee Chairman and secretary general of World Bowling gave away the trophy and prizes to the men’s winners.

The 2016 Asian Bowling Federation Tour consists of six legs for both men and women and four ranking tournaments for men only. Only Asian bowlers are eligible to participate in the ABF Tour.

Players earn ranking points based on how they finish in each event. The top 16 men and the top 16 women at the end of the 2016 season qualify for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions scheduled for March 2017 (tbc) in Kuwait.

The 2016 ABF Tour takes a three-month break before heading to Hao’s Bowling in Shanghai for the China Open (Oct. 7-12) to qualify for the ABF Tour China leg on Oct. 13.
