« Gary Faulkner Jr. historic as December 2015 IBMA Bowler of the Month

Bohn made his 114th TV appearance in the Cheetah finals during GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling VII, surpassing Duke’s 113 appearances and tying Anthony at 114. He then broke his tie with Anthony when he made TV final No. 115 in the Scorpion Championship.
It’ll be more than a little challenging for Bohn to move up any higher, however. Walter Ray Williams Jr. (left) is the runaway leader with 176 PBA Tour television appearances and Pete Weber (right) is solidly entrenched in the No. 2 position with 136 finals.
Williams also is the leader in most TV match wins with 158 followed by Weber with 120, Duke with 99, Bohn with 94 and Anthony with 92.
Here’s a summary of the top 10 in all-time PBA Tour television appearances (No. of matches won in parenthesis):
1. Walter Ray Williams Jr., Oxford, Fla., 176 (153)
2. Pete Weber, St. Ann, Mo., 136 (120)
3. Parker Bohn III, Jackson, N.J., 115 (94)
4. Earl Anthony, 114 (92)
5. Norm Duke, Clermont, Fla., 113 (99)
6. Marshall Holman, Medford, Ore., 105 (66)
7. Amleto Monacelli, Venezuela, 95 (66)

Marshall Kent of Yakima, Wash., PBA’s 2014 Rookie of the Year, and PBA Regional titlist Danielle McEwan (pictured, r-l) of Stony Point, N.Y., won the overall men’s and women’s titles in USBC’s Team USA Trials that concluded on Jan. 7 at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, each earning a fifth term on Team USA and leading a contingent of PBA members who will represent the United States in international competition in 2016.
Earning automatic spots on Team USA 2016 based on overall performances in the Trials was PBA member Andrew Cain of Phoenix and amateurs Kamron Doyle of Brentwood, Tenn.; AJ Chapman of Manchester, Iowa, and U.S. Amateur Champion Chris Via of Springfield, Ohio.
Players added by the National Selection Committee were PBA members Chris Barnes, Double Oak, Texas; Tommy Jones, Simpsonville, S.C.; Sean Rash, Montgomery, Ill.; John Szczerbinski, North Tonawanda, N.Y.; and Ronnie Russell, Marion, Ind., along with amateurs Rob Gotchall of Clarksville, Tenn., and John Janawicz of Winter Haven, Fla.
Joining McEwan with automatic spots on women’s Team USA 2016 were PWBA/PBA members Stefanie Johnson, Grand Prairie, Texas; Kelly Kulick, Union, N.J., and Shannon O’Keefe, O’Fallon, Ill.
National Selection Committee choices included Shannon Pluhowsky, Dayton, Ohio; Erin McCarthy, Omaha, Neb; Josie Earnest, Nashville, Tenn.; Bryanna Cote, Red Rock, Ariz.; Kayla Johnson, Washington, Ill.; Brittni Hamilton, Webster, N.Y., and Missy Parkin, Laguna Hills, Calif.
Non-member Rich Bolosan of Newport News, Va., defeated top qualifier Kyle Troup of Taylorsville, N.C., 235-164, to win the 12th annual PBA Gloucester Southern Open at Village Lanes in Gloucester, Va., Sunday, kicking off the PBA South Region’s 2016 season.
Bolosan earned $2,500 while Troup, who also finished second in 2015, pocketed $1,300 as runner-up. Because he is not a PBA member, Bolosan doesn’t receive credit for a PBA title.
Bolosan defeated Billy Rohde of Marietta, Ga., 279-173, to open the stepladder finals and then eliminated newly-crowned PBA World Champion Gary Faulkner Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., 228-209, to advance to the title match.
