2006 Marco Odio and Diego Rojas of Costa Rica and Guatemala's Melannie Maul and Sofia Granda claimed the second gold medal for their countries in the men's and women's doubles competition at the Campeonato de Centroamérica y México Mayor de Bowling - Cambowl Mayor 2006 in El Salvador.

Rojas, who finished second in Singles, posted the field-best 1216, six-game total and Odio contributed 1202 on the way to win the men's title with 2418 pinfall total and an average of 201,50. It was the second gold medal for Costa Rica after Angel Moreno's victory in Singles. Moreno and team mate Andrés Fallas landed in fifth place with 2280.

Places 2 through 4 belonged to teams from El Salvador. Julio Acosta Espinoza and Mauricio Galdámez took the silver medal with 2331, while Julio Acosta Baires and Giannino Cicala earned bronze with 2298. Mere seven pins off the medals were Francisco Sanchez and Angel Ortíz in fourth place with 2291.

2006CambowlMayorEricLanuza.jpg Eric Lanuza, national coach of El Salvador said afterwards: "The championship is being played on the same oil patterns which will be used in the American Zone Youth Championship in Puebla, Mexico next June, but with both patterns (short and long) being used together in a mixed fashion. This system, which was used for the first time in the 2005 World Ranking Masters Finals, is extremely tough for the bowlers, requiring good execution, knowledge, versatility and repetition."

Women's singles champion Sofia Granda captured her second gold of the championships when she teamed with Melannie Maul to win the women's doubles with 2258 and average of 188,17. 2006 CONCABA Champion of the Champions, Aida Granillo and Elizabeth Acosta of El Salvador topped their team mates Roxana Fajardo and Martha Cáder by mere two pins (2164 to 2162) in the battle for silver and bronze.
