With his first victory on the European Bowling Tour, 21-year-old Anthony Simonsen, United States, leaped one spot into third place in the 2018 European Bowling Tour men’s point ranking.

Jesper Svensson (right), 22, of Sweden continued to lead the ranking with 270 point total while Rafiq Ismail, 20, of Malaysia remained in second place with 260 points.

Simonsen (left and above), a three-time Professional Bowlers Association champion, received 50 points for winning the 30th Irish Open Championships, an EBT “satellite” level tournament, the lowest of five EBT tournament categories (platinum, gold, silver, bronze and satellite), to narrow the gap to 41 points with 219 total.

Simonsen, who was the lone top 20 bowler who competed in Dublin, pushed Kimmo Lehtonen of Finland from third to fourth place with 200 points.

Bill O’Neill (right), United States (160 points), Swedes James Gruffman (158) and Filip Wilhelmsson (114) and Osku Palermaa of Finland (107) remained in fifth to eighth place.

The fourth tournament of the 2018 European Bowling Tour season, the Brunswick Euro Challenge, a “platinum” level event, will start Saturday, March 10, at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany, and will conclude on Sunday, March 18.

The 2018 European Bowling Tour features 13 tournaments in 10 countries including two “platinum”, two “gold”, three “silver”, three “bronze” and three “satellite” events, which will offer total prize fund of more than 560.000 Euro.

The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 8 men and top 8 women, who will be eligible to compete in the 12th EBT Masters July 8, 2019 at Bowling Chamartín in Madrid, Spain.
