All Events champion leads top 8 girls into Round Robin match play; Bernice Lim of Singapore rolls the second 300 game by a girl in the history of World Youth Championships

2012WYCGirlsAEHwangYeonJu_small.jpg2012WYCBerniceLim_small.jpgAll Events champion Hwang Yeon-Ju (l.) of Korea rolled a solid 1234 series Monday morning at Blu-O Paragon Bowling Center in Bangkok, Thailand to maintain her lead in the Girls Masters competition at the 12th World Youth Championships as the field was cut to the top 8. Hwang totaled 5105 (212.71) for 24 games. Bernice Lim (r.) of Singapore became the second girl in WTBA history, who rolled a 300 game at World Youth Championships.



Norwegian Mads Sandbaekken triumphs in Boys Masters finals

2006WYCBoysMastersTop4_small.jpg Mads Sandbaekken (white shirt) of Norway won the coveted Boys Masters title when he defeated Canadian Dan MacLelland (left), 3-1, in the title match. MacLelland opened the championship match with a 202-191 victory before Sandbaekken roared back. He won the second game in the second roll-off after a 202-202 tie, won the third game 219-192 and capped off the day with a 247-189 victory in game four to claim the title.



Glen Loader leads Australia to victory in Boys Team event

2006WYCBoysTeamAustralia_small.jpg Aussie Glen Loader led his team mates Jason Belmonte, Stephen Cowland and Michael Zentveld to the gold medal in the Boys Team event. Malaysia leapfrogged from 14th to second place, while short oil leader Norway earned the bronze medal. Malaysia's Zulmazran Zulkifli captured the title in All Events, with Dan MacLelland, Canada, second, and Loader third.



9th World Youth Championships 2006 - Boys Doubles

2006WYCBoysDoubles_small.jpg Daniel Skitt and Dan MacLelland (center) from Canada claimed the gold medal in the Boys Doubles event at the 9th World Youth Championships with 2605 pinfall total on the long oil condition. The silver and bronze medals went to the top teams from the second squad, Korea's Kim Jong-Wook and Jang Dong-Chul (left) and Zulmazran Zulkifli and Aaron Kong (right) of Malaysia.



Kuwait's Al Zaidan remains unchallenged, wins gold in Boys' Singles

2006WYCBoysSingles_small.jpg Squad 1 leaders Mohammad Al Zaidan, Kuwait, Canadian Dan MacLelland, and Norway's Mads Sandbaekken remained unchallenged during the second squad of the Boys Singles en route to win the gold, silver and bronze medals at the 9th World Youth Championships in Berlin. Aaron Kong led the second squad with 1271 thanks to a final 247 game, good enough for fourth place.
