Pasi Uotila from Finland defeated Maarten Pittens, Netherlands, 202-195 to win the European Bowling Tour's 10th stop, the Storm Dutch Open 2007 at Dolfijn Bowling in Scheveningen, Netherlands and the 10.000 Euro top prize. Pittens sidelined current European ranking leader Osku Palermaa, Finland, in the semis, 229-226, while Uotila eliminated Peter Smits, Netherlands, 244-210. Dane Kamilla Kjeldsen won the women's rankings.
Brunswick Bowling Center Hernals in Vienna, Austria (June 28-July 1, 2007)
Due to the massive interest and the enormous demand the Organizing Committee of the United World Games has decided to hold the 2007 UWG in two Austrian cities - Klagenfurt and Vienna. With more than 1,500 athletes from the United States having registered already, a record number of participants is almost guaranteed. The bowling event will takes place at the Brunswick Bowling Center Hernals (Posthalle) in Vienna.
3-time defending men's and women's ranking champions Paul Moor (left) and Britt Bröndsted narrowed the gap to 2007 ranking leaders Osku Palermaa and Kirsten Penny to 3 and 59 pins, respectively. The English lefty finished third in the Aalborg International, while the Dane won the women's ranking in Aalborg.
The annual Scott Banks Memorial at AMF Leeds produced a new winner for Team England in the ladies event, as Nicki Ainge not only won the maximum ranking points for her score over 10 games (2124), but also held off all challengers in the round robin. Mike Quarry bagged max points in the men's division but finished third after the round robin. Dom Barrett (right) and Steve Thornton battled for the crown with Barrett succeeding by 21 pins.

Sami Konsteri (left), Finland, defeated 3-time PBA champion Sean Rash (right), United States, 432-416, over two games total pinfall en route to win the Brunswick Aalborg International 2007 and the 10.000 Euro top prize (approx. US$13,450). Konsteri had an 8-pin lead after the first game (227 to 219) and sealed the victory with a 205-197 win in game #2.

Belgian Gery Verbruggen (r.) defeated PBA exempt bowler Michael Fagan (l.), 236-201, in the title match of the 2nd Paraske Cup, the 8th stop of the 2007 European Bowling Tour to win his eighth career EBT and the 12.000 Euro top prize. It was the first victory on the Tour for the 4-time EBT ranking champion (2000-2003) since the Danish Masters in 2003. In the semis, the lefty ousted PBA super Star Mika Koivuniemi, 219-194, while Fagan eliminated qualifying winner Jean-Marc Lebon, Belgium, 218-181.
No changes atop the men's and women's leaderboard in the 2007 European Bowling Tour rankings after the eighth event this season, the 2nd Paraske Cup in La Louviere, Belgium. Kirsten Penny, England, and Osku Palermaa, Finland, finished second and 15th in their respective ranking division to widen the lead to 79 and 27 points, resp. Paraske champion Gery Verbruggen jumped into 13th place while Martina Beckel, the highest positioned woman in Belgium maintained her third place.

The Eden SuperBowl recently hosted the fourth annual Globalair Travel Youth Open, where a field of Under-24 tenpin bowlers competed in a series of events to decide this year's Champions. While the event was rather dominated by local athletes, it also attracted competitors from the United Kingdom and also Italy, but it was Maltese pair, Rankin Camilleri and Stephanie Said who were the eventual overall winners of the respective Male and Female divisions.
Ingunn Øien and Mads Sandbækken won the individual women's and men's titles of the Norwegian National Championships held at Bowling 1 in Heimdal, 15 km south of Trondheim. Øien edged defending champion Heidi Thorstensen, while Sandbækken claimed his second consecutive men's titel in the deciding match against Petter Hansen.
The Swedish Team Championship playoffs will be held Friday through Sunday, May 11-13 in the city of Sundsvall about 400 kilometers north of Stockholm. According to Hans Karlsson, press officer of the Swedish Bowling Federation, the finals featuring four teams, Pergamon, Falkenberg, Sundbyberg and Avance, will be taped for Web TV.

The top 14 players after qualifying and semifinal - 12 men and two women - advanced to the knock-out finals in the 30th Grand Prix Zurich. When the dust had settled, the two women, multiple Swiss champion Bigi Manico (pictured) and multiple German champion Tanya Petty, reached the title match in best-of-three games format. Petty easily won the first game, 263-199, but the Swiss lefty rebounded with back-to-back victories 212-193 and 222-213 to win the match and the title, 2-1.
There were two parts to this event – an 8 game qualifier for Team England points and a 24 person knockout over 3 games total pinfall. Jon Zadel (left) bagged his second ranking title in a row with 1763, while the ladies' honors went to Jemma Smith (right) on 1698. Darren Cundy (611) beat Mark Smith (589) to win the knockout final.

Australia’s Jason Belmonte won his first World Tenpin Masters title in the third attempt as he posted the second 300 game in the history of the event to help him go past England’s Paul Moor by 566-524 at Metrodome Center in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. Belmonte received $30,000, while Moor received the $10,000 runner-up check for the third consecutive year.
Summer came to the south coast resort of Poole for the 21st Annual Jim Brewer Tournament and so did 42 men and 16 ladies. Lisa John (pictured left) returned to welcome form, edging Jemma Smith by 23 pins for the women's title. An unbelievable finish to the men’s event saw Jon Zadel (right) beat Adam Scott by one pin.

The Israeli won the first game, 191-173, and the second, 223-215. Gyorgy Bodis from Hungary and Alexey Vasilenko, Russia, shared the bronze medal.

Ranta broke the old record set by Dane Thomas Larsen in 2005 by 223 pins. Ben Fishler from Israel beat out last year's runner-up Svein Ake Ek from Norway for the silver medal by one pin, 3983 to 3982.
