Team USA's Dorin-Ballard, Kulick set three records on the way to the Doubles lead

Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, a 20-time PWBA champion, and PBA exempt player Kelly Kulick (pictured left, r-l) , the only woman ever who has won a PBA national title, broke the championship records for one, three and six games en route to lead the Doubles preliminaries at the Women's World Championships in Hong Kong, China, after two of three squads.
The Americans finished with a 556 game and a 1536 for games 4-6 to move atop the leaderboard with 2901 pinfall total and an average of 241.75. CDB had 1428 and Kulick totaled 1473.

Singapore's New Hui Fen and Jazreel Tan (above right, l-r)used a 493 final game including New's 289 to tie Squad 1 leader Shannon Pluhowsky and Liz Johnson (left, l-r), United States, with 2780. Due to the higher last game, New/Tan overtook second place while the Americans slipped to third.
With the final squad to go on Tuesday morning, defending champion Hwang Sun-Ok and her team mate Son Yun-Hee (right, l-r) from Korea are "on the bubble" with 2675 or an average of 222.92.
As in Singles, the 171 players from 33 countries were split into three squads to bowl six games preliminaries. The top 4 doubles will advance to the finals.

Squads 1 and 2 bowled Monday at 9 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Hong Kong time, respectively, with Squad 3 to follow on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. The semifinals start at 1.30 p.m. with the championship match to follow immediately afterwards.
Colombia's Paola Gomez and Clara Juliana Guerrero (pictured left, l-r) paced Squad 2 after the first game with 466. Guerrero, the defending All Events and Masters champion, had 246 and Gomez added 220.
Patcharin Torgersen (224) and Heidi Thorstensen (232) of Norway (on the right, r-l) and Sweden's Sandra Andersson (233) and Nina Flack (223, below right, l-r) were tied for second place at 456.

Rounding out the top 4 was Anja Ginge Jensen (243) and Britt Brøndsted (204; on the left, r-l), Denmark with 447.

Masters match play will be staged on dual lane condition (one lane dressed with the Seoul pattern and the other lane dressed with the Paris pattern).
The top four players and teams after six games in Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team, respectively, will advance to the semifinals. The No. 1 meet No. 4 and No. 2 takes on No. 3. The winners will determine the World Champion, while the losers will share the bronze medal. All matches are single-game matches.
