Organizers announce lane conditioning pattern for The International Mini

Pinacle Events, organizer of "The International Mini" has announced that Kegel will be putting down the WTBA "Athens" pattern for the upcoming event.
The tournament, immediately following the USBC Masters and running concurrently with the WTBA International Open, is a scratch and handicap competition from January 28 through February 5. Guaranteed top prizes will pay $30,000-1st/$15,000-2nd/$10,000-3rd. All three events will hosted by Sunset Station Strike Zone bowling center in suburban Las Vegas.
The "Athens" lane conditioning pattern, which is 40 feet in length, was chosen for several reasons. It allows multiple parts of the lane to play and it complements the pattern being used by the WTBA Open, which is using the "Atlanta" pattern. Bowlers should be able to use similar equipment in both tournaments.
Tournament promoters for the International Mini and the WTBA Open are aiming to have the cut scores around a 220 average. It certainly won't be a house shot but they don't want to make it so difficult bowlers will become frustrated. Their goal is to also allow multiple angles to the pocket so bowlers can stay in their comfort zone while competing for big prize money.
The International Mini, presented by Brunswick, is a four-game qualifier by division. One in 8 bowlers each day, per division, will advance to the finals and cash for a minimum of $750. Bowlers can guarantee themselves larger payouts by earning byes which will offer guaranteed prizes of up to $2,000.
The finals of the International Mini will feature a one-game elimination format by division with the winners of each division guaranteed $10,000.
Sunset Station is offering all tournament bowlers discounted room rates. Midweek rates are only $55 per night plus tax while weekend rates range from $70 to $99 per night plus tax.
