02/06/12

Former PBA exempt player D.J. Archer (pictured left) of Pt Arthur, Texas averaged over 240 in the qualifying of the USBC Masters, WTBA International Open and The International Mini en route to win $10,000 first prize in All Events with 4813 20-game total.
13-time PBA champion Chris Barnes (right) of Double Oak, Texas, was second with 4766 with USBC champion Mike Fagan of Dallas in third place with 4727. Barnes received $5.000 and Fagan earned $2.500.
Bowlers from around the world had the chance to compete in three major international tournaments in a two-week span at the same bowling center at the end of January and the beginning of February in Las Vegas.
The three events, the WTBA International Open, the International Mini and the USBC Masters had a total combined prize fund of approximately $500,000 and were conducted at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in Henderson, Nev., with a special additional prize fund of $30,000 available to those who compete in all three events.
Mike Machuga (right) of Erie, Pa., matched Archer's earnings despite failing to advance to the finals of the WTBA International Open. Right after the conclusion of the Desperado Squad, where he had a 243 yet missed the cut (257) by 14 pins, Machuga hit the jackpot at one of the Keno machines in Strike Zone Bowling Center.
