Ghislaine van der Tol leads Squad 2 to move into top 4 at Chandra Open

    Oliver Pescher holds on to the lead; Cut for 30th place is currently 1154 (192.33 average)

    Ghislaine van der Tol (pictured left), Netherlands, who has won three European Bowling Tour titles in her career and ties England's Zara Glover for the most EBT titles won by a woman, posted games of 216, 225, 234, 238, 213 and 194 and added 48 pins women's handicap to lead Squad 2 with 1368.

    Van der Tol moved into third place in the overall qualifying standings. Oliver Pescher (right) and Dirk Dreyer of Germany held onto the lead with 1379 and 1369, respectively. Dutch Jeroen van Geel slipped one place to fourth with 1364.

    The top four players of a separate leaderboard of Squads 1-3, will earn automatic spots into Sunday's finals if they don't finish in the top 30 overall.

Lisanne Breeschoten (right), who won the women's ranking of the 2011 Chandra Open by finishing fourth, tied compatriot Johnny Spil at 1321.

    Spil was seeded sixth and Breeschoten seventh due to Spil's higher last game, 256-186. Breeschoten's team mate on the Dutch national team, Carmen Haandrikman was 13 pins behind with 1308, good for eighth place overall.

    With 47 players, 27 men and 11 women, from Belgium, Germany, United States and the host country Netherlands in the books, Daniel French, Netherlands, holds the 30th and last place to advance with 1154 or an average of 192.33. Qualifying continues Wednesday, Sept. 26 with Squad 3 scheduled for 8 p.m. CEST.

    The Chandra Open 2012 will be held Sept. 24-30, 2012 at 16-lane Chandra Bowling in Nieuwegein, Netherlands, The tournament is the 15th stop of the 2012 European Bowling Tour and the fifth out of seven EBT "Satellite" tournaments this season.

    The Chandra Open offers total prize fund of 24.600 Euro with 5.000 Euro going to the winner and 3.000 Euro to the runner-up, while the third and fourth place finishers will receive 2.000 Euro and 1.000, respectively.

    Qualifying of the Chandra Open (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Monday, Sept. 24 through Saturday, Sept. 29 with the last Squad 12 scheduled for 6 p.m. CEST and concludes with the Desperado Squad slated for 9.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire event, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 38 players will advance to the finals on Sunday, Sept. 30 - the top 30 players from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 4 from a separate leader board of Squad 1-3, and the top 4 from the Desperado Squad. The top 6 qualifiers earn one bye.

    The other 32 players will bowl six games starting from scratch with the top 10 advancing to the second round. The top 10 from Round One and the top six qualifiers will bowl six games starting from scratch to cut to the top 8.

    Those eight will bowl another six-game block with the pinfall from Round Two being carried forward. The player with the highest 12-game total will be declared the winner.
