World & European Bowling Tour event offers 106.000 Euro total prize fund; 15.000 Euro and a PBA International title at stake for the winner
The Brunswick Euro Challenge is the fourth tournament on the 2013 European Bowling Tour schedule and one of only two "Platinum" events this season, the EBT's highest tournament category. The BEC is also the seventh stop of the World Bowling Tour and the second of three WBT events in Europe in 2013.
The BEC will be held from March 19-24 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany, the biggest bowling center in Europe, and offers total prize money of 106.000 Euro with 15.000 Euro going to the winner, 7.500 Euro to the runner-up and 5.000 Euro to the third place finisher.
Due to an agreement between the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) and the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), the Brunswick Euro Challenge will award a PBA International title, if won by a PBA member.
As of today, 368 players from 35 countries and regions - Australia, Austria, Belgium, Catalonia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States, Venezuela, and the host country Germany - have registered for the event.

The men's field is spearheaded by defending champion Mike Fagan (pictured left), United States. The five-time PBA champion defeated Joonas Jehkinen, Finland, in the title match of the 2012 BEC, 279-193, to capture his fourth PBA title.
It was the second BEC title for Fagan after 2009. The 32-year-old right-hander, who lives in Dallas, Texas, has won two of his five European Bowling Tour titles in Germany, the 2005 Viernheim Open and the 2012 Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open at this year's BEC venue.
For the first time in 10 years of BEC competition, Europe's richest tournament will be contested at Dream-Bowl Palace. In the first four years from 2004 through 2007, the BEC was held at Strike Bowling in Thessaloniki, Greece, before it moved to Plaza Bowling Saint Maximin near Paris, France, in 2008. At the end of 2012, title sponsor Brunswick announced that the 10th anniversary event will be staged in Munich.
Bowlingdigital.com will provide Live Coverage and Live Streaming commencing Wednesday, March 20, all the way through to the stepladder finals, which will be broadcast live on Bowlingdigital TV on Sunday, March 24, from 18:30 to 19:30 Central European Time (starts at 1.30 p.m. EST or Monday, March 25, at 1.30 a.m. Hong Kong Time).

Qualifying will kick off Tuesday, March 19, with an "Early Bird" squad slated for 4 p.m. CET and runs through Saturday, March. 23 with the final Squad 15 slated for 8 p.m. Qualifying concludes with the ultimate one-game Desperado Squad at 11.30 p.m. Women receive eight pins handicap each game throughout the entire event, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.
A total of 64 players will qualify for the finals on Sunday, March 24, including the top 52 qualifiers, the top 8 of a separate leaderboard of the squads conducted March 19 & 20 plus the top 4 of the Desperado Squad.
The top 12 qualifiers will receive one bye. The other 52 players will bowl six games scratch to cut to the top 16 who will join the top 12 qualifiers in Round Two. Those 28 will bowl another six games scratch after which the field will be trimmed to the top 8 players who will carry forward their pinfall total into the match play round.
After seven games round robin match play (30 pins bonus for a win; 15 for a tie) the top 3 players will determine the champion in a stepladder final. The No. 3 seed bowls the No. 2 seed and the winner of the semifinal match takes on the No. 1 seed for the title, and the 15.00 Euro top prize.
After the withdrawal of the 35th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona, the 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 tournaments in 13 countries including two Platinum, five Gold, five Silver and seven Satellite events.
The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. The winner of a Platinum tournament such as the Brunswick Euro Challenge receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.
The top 12 men and the top 12 women at the end of the 2013 season qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the EBT Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.
The 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge is also the seventh event of the 2013 World Bowling Tour, which actually got underway at the end of 2012.
The 2013 WBT consists of 15 tournaments in America, Asia, Europe and Australia - six in the United States and one each in Australia, Austria, Finland, Germany, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Qatar and Thailand.
Players earn ranking points based on how they finish in each event. The current points system is based on a continuous two-year cycle, so points earned in 2011 and 2012 are added to points earned in 2013 to determine the points list.
The top three men and top three women will be invited to compete in the World Bowling Tour Finals presented by the Professional Bowlers Association which will be held in conjunction with the 5th PBA World Series of Bowling at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nev., in November 2013.
