Daria Kovalova takes over lead in 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger

    Ukrainian totals 1404 in Squad 3 to become the first player to crack the 1400-mark; another three Germany move into the top 6 on Sunday

    2012ECCDariaKovalova2.jpg2013EBT11HansGlasl.jpgDaria Kovalova (pictured left) of Ukraine rolled totaled 1404 in Sunday's Squad 3 at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring/Munich, Germany, en route to overtake the lead in the qualifying of the 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger after 5 of 12 squads.

    Kovalova, a multiple national champion and winner of the 2012 European Champions Cup, averaged 226 scratch including games of 207, 159, 245, 243, 269 and 233 for 1356 and added 48 pins women's handicap to become the first player this year to crack the 1400-bar.

    Previous leader Hans Glasl (right) of Germany slipped to second place with 1392 and the field-best 232 average.

    2013EBT04AnzeGrabrijan.jpgGermans Daniel Hellmich and Andre Michow paced the fourth squad on Sunday with 1322 and 1319, respectively, to move into third and fourth place. Phil Schütt, Germany, led the fifth squad with 1285 to leap into fifth place.

    Anže Grabrijan (left) of Slovenia, who won his first European Bowling Tour title in the 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer in February, improved his 1250 series from Saturday by 33 pins, but fell from fourth to sixth place with 1283.

    The top six of a separate leaderboard of Squads 1-7, who will not finish among the top 50, will earn automatic berths into the finals.

    Qualifying takes a short break and continues Wednesday, July 24, with Squads 6 & 7 scheduled for noon and 4 p.m. CEST.

    2013EBT11DreamBowlPalaceOpenLogo_small.jpg The 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 11th stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the fourth out of six EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 20-28 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The DBO offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 6.500 Euro going to the winner, 4.500 to the runner-up, and 3.500 and 2.500 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Low to cash is 64th place for 500 Euro.

    The Dream-Bowl Palace Open features a 42 feet Kegel Sport Series Autobahn 2542 lane conditioning pattern with 25.85 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Saturday July 20, through Saturday, July 27, with the last qualifying squad 18 scheduled for 8 p.m. CEST. The qualifying winner will receive a 1.000 Euro bonus.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 64 players including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 6 from Squads 1-7, the top 4 from the Desperado Squad and the top four from a "High-Low" list (lowest and highest game added together; additional 10,-€ per squad) will qualify for the finals on Sunday, July 27. The top 8 qualifiers will receive two byes, while qualifiers 9-16 will bypass the first round of the finals.

    Three four-game rounds each starting from scratch will trim the field to 40, 24 and then twelve players, who will carry forward their third-round pinfall total into the first of three three-game rounds which will trim the field to eight and then four players who will determine the champion.

    2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 tournaments in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite events.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the Dream-Bowl Palace Open gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

    Points are tabulated throughout the season and the top 12 men and the top 12 women qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the EBT Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.
