PBA Stars resume action in Vienna (Austria) and Bangkok (Thailand)

Several PBA Tour stars will return to action in a pair of World Bowling Tour events that could have PBA Player of the Year ramifications. The Columbia 300 Vienna Open is scheduled for Oct. 1-6 at Plus Bowling Center in Vienna, Austria, and the WBT Thailand follows at Bul-O Paragon in Bangkok Oct. 14-21.
The tournaments also will be the final qualifying events for the WBT Men's and Women's Finals presented by the PBA which will be held during PBA World Series of Bowling V.
The World Series, which will include five PBA Tour title events, is set for Oct. 25-Nov. 3, at South Point Hotel, Casino and Bowling Center in Las Vegas. The final event on the 2012-13 PBA schedule will be the Round1 Japan Cup in Tokyo Nov. 28-30.
For the fifth consecutive year since befriending a young Crohns victim, 2007-08 PBA Rookie of the Year Rhino Page (pictured left) will return to Levittown, N.Y., Sept. 27-29 to join young Tyler Cacioppo's family in raising money aimed at finding a cure the debilitating disease.
The fifth annual Rhino Page & Friends Lace Up to Strike Out Crohns & Colitis fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, as part of the Strike Out Crohns & Colitis Eastern Open regional tournament.
Since the event's inception, it has raised more than $100,000 to help in research to find a cure for the disabling inflammatory bowel diseases.

In addition to returning to the PBA World Series of Bowling V in October to offer coaching assistance and advisory help to PBA players, BowlU founder Rick Benoit (pictured) is hosting a BowlU Coaching Certification Camp between Oct. 25-29 at South Point Bowling Center.
This camp is designed to provide BowlU coaching certification which enables coaches to bring the skill and technique they learned back to their community and run local BowlU Skill Development camps.
The Las Vegas camp will include five days of instruction from Benoit, participation in coaching during PBA's World Series of Bowling and behind-the-scenes access to the PBA trucks, locker room and product registered company ball reps.

The PBA East Regional Players Invitational, the fifth in a series of six regional championship tournaments, is set for Maple City Bowl in Hornell, N.Y., this weekend. The RPI will be webcast live, from start to finish, Saturday and Sunday on PBA's Xtra Frame online bowling channel.
At stake is a $6,000 first prize, a paid entry into the PBA World Series of Bowling V and a berth in the inaugural PBA RPI Finals which will be televised on ESPN.
Michael Haugen Jr. (pictured) of Phoenix, Ariz., threw a strike in a one-ball, sudden-death roll-off to defeat Bryon Smith of Roseburg, Ore., 10-7, Sunday to win the PBA Sands Regency Casino Open at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., for his 16th regional title and a $2,000 prize.
Haugen won his roll-off when Smith left three pins standing on his sudden-death attempt. The roll-off was required after both posted identical 8-4 match play records and 5,086 pinfall totals for 20 games of qualifying and match play.
In the companion PBA Sands Regency West/Northwest Non-Champions event held on Friday, Dean Richards of Tacoma, Wash., defeated Kristopher George of Las Vegas, 225-214, to win his first PBA Regional title and a $1,200 prize.
In addition to the East RPI presented by Maple City Dodge, the Sept. 20-22 schedule includes the Ten Down Lanes West/Northwest Open presented by Motiv in Roseburg, Ore.; the Odessa (Texas) Southwest Open at Astro Bowl, and the PBA50 Sport Lanes South Open in Martinsville, Va.
Closing out the month over the Sept. 27-29 weekend will be the PBA50 Mel Westrich Memorial Central/Midwest Open presented by Storm at Delphos Recreation Center in Delphos, Ohio; the Albuquerque Hammer Southwest Open at Silva Lanes in Albuquerque, N.M., and the Tyler Cacioppo Crohns and Colitis Eastern Open at South Levittown Lanes in Levittown, N.Y.

Two more countries heard from for the PBA World Series of Bowling: The entry of Shaik Abdul Hameed from Delhi makes India the 22nd country to be represented in WSOB-V, and the first from his country to bowl in a PBA Tour event in the United States. Costa Rica will return for the second year, increasing representation to a record 23 countries (the previous record was 17 in 2012).
