Tobias Börding maintains lead in men's division at World Cup after 10 games

    German averages 227 in the second round of qualifying to maintain a 163-pin lead as Squad B has completed 10 of 20 qualifying games

    The 27 bowlers of Squad B kicked off the second day of qualifying in the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup currently underway at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland.

    Tobias Börding (pictured left) of Germany, who led the first round in the men's division after rolling an outstanding 1305 series (261 average), led Squad B for the second consecutive day. Börding posted 1136 on early Wednesday morning including games of 189, 257, 226, 227 and 237, an average of 227.20, to set the pace with 2441 or an average of 244.10 for ten games.

    2014BWCManuelOtalora2.jpg2014BWCLukasAndrassy.jpgTrailing Börding by 163 pins was Dhruv Sarda (above right) of India, who matched Börding's score to remain in second place with 2278. Sarda's set was highlighted by a 279 in game two.

    Like in the first round, Manuel Otalora (left) of Colombia was third in this squad, this time with 1090 for 2224 total. Otalora, who won the gold medal in Singles at the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, has a 43-pin cushion over Lukas Andrassy (right) of Slovakia, who used the third-highest 1128 series (225.60) to leap into fourth place with 2181.

    Andrassy led the squad after four games with 961 (240.25 average) including games of 244, 223, 256 and 238 but closed out with a disappointing 167.

    2014BWCMohamedJanahi.jpg2014BWCAlexeyParshukov2.jpg Fifth place belonged to Mohamed Janahi (left) of Bahrain, who added 1082 to 1095 from yesterday for 2177 total. Alexei Parshukov (right) of Russia was mere three pins behind in sixth place with 2174.

    With 29 out of 82 men having reached the halfway point in qualifying, Renalda Bean of Bermuda holds the 24th and last spot to advance to the intermediate round with 1726 or an average of 172.60. The cut after the first round was 214.20.

    For comparison, the score to make the cut in the qualifying of the 48th World Cup edition two years ago here at Sky Bowling Center was 4177 or an average of 208.85 for 20 games.

    The bowlers of Squad C will bowl their second block starting at 2.30 p.m. while Squad A bowlers will conclude the day at 9 p.m. CET.

    Live coverage and live streaming commences on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
