Dirk Dreyer rolls 1282 in Squad 7 to overtake qualifying lead in Munich

    2015EBT11DirkDreyer.jpgFormer German national team member Dirk Dreyer (pictured left) posted a 1282 series in qualifying squad 7 to move to the top of the 82-player leaderboard in the 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger Tuesday at Dream-Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany.

    Dreyer, who received 200 Euro for winning the squad, rolled games of 254, 202, 195, 225, 227 and 179, an average of 213.67, to overtake previous leader Marcel Wagner of Germany by 15 pins. Wagner slipped to second place with 1267.

    2015EBT11MaximeDeRooij.jpgTournament organizer Manuel Mrosek was second in Squad 7 with 1236, good for fifth place overall. Maxime de Rooij (right), Germany, was next with 1221 including handicap and is the best of eight women in eighth place.

    Lucien Houwer, Netherlands, currently holds the 50th and last spot to qualify directly for the finals with 1077 or an average of 179.50.

    Qualifying continues Wednesday, July 22, with Squads 8-9 scheduled to start at noon and 4 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).

    2015TrackDBPOpenLogo_small.jpg The 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 12th stop of the 2015 European Bowling Tour season and the second of three EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 18-26 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The Track DBP Open offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 7.000 Euro going to the winner, 5.000 to the runner-up, and 3.000 and 2.000 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Final cash spot is 64th place to pay 600 Euro.

    The tournament features a 40-feet lane conditioning pattern with 25.92 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Saturday July 18, through Saturday, July 25, with the last qualifying squad 20 scheduled for 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).

    The winner of squad 1-9 each receive a 200 bonus, squad 10-16 winners get 350 Euro and the winners of squad 17-20 earn 500 Euro.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game (maximum is 300) throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    Total 64 players will advance to the finals on Sunday, July 26, including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus top 2 of Squads 8 & 9, top 4 of Squads 1-7, top 4 from the Desperado Squad and top four from a "High-Low" list (two-game total of lowest and highest game; additional 10 Euro per squad).

    The top 8 qualifiers earn two byes moving them into the Round of 16, while qualifiers 9-16 receive a first-round bye having to compete in the Round of 28.

    The finals will kick off with three four-game rounds, each beginning from scratch, which will trim the field to 36, 16 and then four players. Those four will carry over their pinfall total into the eliminator-format finals featuring three one-game rounds.

    All four players bowl the opening game, with the lowest-scoring player after five games being eliminated. In the two rounds to follow, the same "low man out" format applies. The last man standing will be declared the champion.

    2015EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 17 tournaments in 13 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and eight "Satellite" events. All 17 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 870.000 Euro or 961.500 U.S. Dollar.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.

    Top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus top 2 of Squads 8 & 9, top 4 of Squads 1-7, top 4 from the Desperado Squad and top four from a "High-Low" list will advance to the finals.

    Tie Rules (Qualifying)
    In case of a tie in the qualifying, "the highest positioned player will be the player scoring the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the lowest game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned player will be the player with the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the two lowest games, etc."
