Mini Eliminator now welcomes pros to compete in new Open Division

Steve Sanders, President of Pinacle Events and owner of the Mini Eliminator tournaments, has been challenged in recent years with a shrinking megabuck bowler market.
This year, on the occasion of his fifth Annual Super Bowl Mini Eliminator, Sanders decided to open the event to thousands of players who were not eligible in the past, including PBA non-exempt players, senior PBA champions and all former PWBA women's champions and members.
When the 2006 Super Bowl Mini Eliminator rolls February 6-12 at the Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas, a lot of familiar faces never seen in the event will be rolling for the big $50,000 top prize. These elite players are now eligible, but they will have their own division in the event, separate from the amateur groups, who compete in age division, and those in the 205 and under average group.
"I think we have finally found a way to allow most of the pros to bowl without making the amateurs compete against them head-to-head," said Sanders. Indeed, the pros, both male and female (except PBA exempt players), may now bowl in the event, and not only will the amateurs not have to beat them in the preliminary rounds, but those divisions will also be made even more competitive because all of the "professional amateurs, such as current national team members and former megabuck champions will also be in the new Open Division.
All amateurs, except certain elite amateurs (see entry brochure on website), will continue to bowl in the age divisions, 39 and under, 40-49, 50 and over, and in the 205 and under group. By removing the elite amateurs from these groups, all divisions will be more fair and competitive. Not until the final championship game will they have to compete head-to-head, and as everyone knows, 'anything can happen in one game'.
Will these new eligibility rules help grow the number of megabuck bowlers? Sanders and his staff are working hard and hoping that both the amateurs and the pros support the event and see that Pinacle Events is taking positive steps to bring in more business and make the events bigger and better than ever for everyone.
"I think most competitive bowlers are very smart, and they will see that these new eligibility rules are fair and will make our events more exciting and more competitive", said Sanders. "Were also very happy to provide a quality event for the women pros and amateurs, because they don't have very many big events to bowl in these days."
