Top mixed doubles teams from around the world will spend Super Bowl Weekend 2006 at the Orleans Hotel, Casino and Bowling Center in Las Vegas. It will be the most exciting place in the world to be, and many of the best male and female bowlers in the world will compete in the first annual $100,000 MoRich Mixed Doubles National Championship Friday-Sunday, February 3-5.
A minimum of 25% of all teams entered (1:4) will cash in the event and will take home at least $800, double the $400 entry fee. The champions will bank a big $16,000.
The prestigious new event is expected to attract many of the best pro and amateur bowlers in the world in its inaugural run. Bowlers from 15 nations are entered in the Super Bowl Mini Eliminator, which will follow February 6-12, and many will arrive early to bowl in the new MoRich event.
MoRich Mixed Doubles bowlers will roll in qualifying squads Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and Sunday morning. After qualifying, a two-game Semi Finals will be held starting at 7pm Super Bowl Sunday. The top 16 teams in the semi-finals will advance to the best 2 of 3 finals.
Based on only 250 total entries (including re-entries) the event will pay $16,000 first, and $8,000 to the second place team. Places 3 and 4 will earn $4,000 each, 5-8 will cash for $2,000 each and 9-16 will take home $1,500 each.
In addition to the $100,000 prize fund at 250 entries, there will be individual and team brackets, crossover doubles, and a separate men's and women's optional singles event with a $100 entry fee. With only 100 entries, the singles will pay a $1,000 top prize and 20 cash spots.
"We are really looking forward to working with Mo Pinel and MoRich on this new event," said Pinacle Events president Steve Sanders (pictured). "Already a lot of the top pro and amateur bowlers in the world are entered, and the fans can look forward to see these great men and women in action."
