$100,000 MoRich Mixed Doubles National Championship
02/03/06
The most significant and prestigious Mixed Doubles Tournament in years will roll Super Bowl weekend February 3-5 in Las Vegas. The Orleans Bowling Center will host Pinacle Events and MoRich Enterprises inaugural MoRich Mixed Doubles National Championship, and two great bowlers, one woman and one man, will walk away with the big $16,000 top prize; $8,000 each.
Several of the top professional and amateur bowlers in the world are already entered, and many more are expected to compete in the $100,000 event. The new tournament is presented by Steve Sanders' Pinacle Events, owners of the very successful Mini Eliminator tournaments, and all but PBA exempt players and multiple title holders since 1995 are eligible.
International stars and national team members are also eligible and will travel to Vegas for this new event and the fifth Annual Super Bowl Mini Eliminator, which will follow February 6-12 (most pros are also now eligible for the Super Mini - scroll down for more details).
With only 250 total entries in the multi-squad event, the prize fund is guaranteed to exceed $100,000. Eight qualifying squads will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning February 3-5 followed by semifinals and finals following the NFL Super Bowl football game Sunday evening.
During the game, The Orleans will conduct a 'Bowlers Only' Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament from 2:30 - 6:00 pm, and many of the 'celebrity' bowlers in the MoRich event and Super Bowl Mini will test their card-playing skills before the MoRich Finals. For more information about the Poker Tournament, contact Orleans Bowling Center Manager Bob McVey at (702) 365-7111.
Since the format of the new MoRich Mixed Doubles is a multi-squad format, entries will be accepted up to the starting time of each qualifying squad. Bowlers can even change partners for later squads, but once they make the finals, they must compete with the partner they qualify with. Eight teams who lead their squad will earn byes to the final round, and teams already qualified for the semifinals may continue to bowl and cash to try to earn one of the seeded spots in the finals.
