"The Big Finn" became the first European player to win the Japan Cup and solidified his standing as one of the world's top bowlers. He defeated fellow Denny's Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour star Mike Wolfe, 200-178, to win the 2007 Dydo Japan Cup at the Tokyo Metro Gymnasium. The picture shows Mika with the trophy.

The victory was the eighth PBA Tour title of Koivuniemi's career, and gave him a victory in 11 countries. The Finland native, now residing in Hartland, Mich., has been bowling on the Tour for nine years after spending 10 years with Team Finland.

Other bowlers receiving votes were: Missy Bellinder, who became the first woman to win two PBA Regional Tour championships; Diandra Asbaty, who became the first player in the history of the World Tenpin Bowling Association Women's World Championships to win two Masters titles, and Shannon O'Keefe, who became the second woman to win a gold medal in singles at the Women's World Championships as well as helping Team USA to a silver medal finish there and joining Lynda Barnes and Tennelle Milligan for a silver medal in trios.
