Kim and Lim end 21st Asian Intercity Bowling Championships with victory in Masters

    2007AICMenMastersKimYoungPyo1.jpg Kim Young Pyo (left), Daegu, Korea, and Bernice Lim, Singapore, ended the 21st Asian Intercity Bowling Championships at Artha Gading Bowling Center in Jakarta, Indonesia with victory in the men's and women's Masters competition.

    Pyo, who won the titles in Doubles, Team and All Events, fired a 299 game in the position round en route to win his fourth gold medal in the men's division with 3646 pinfall total and an average of 222.88. Pyo, who had 835 in his lst three games (258, 278, 299) overtook previous leader Oh Young Gi, Uiwang by 118 pins. Oh finished second with 3528. Bronze went to Purvis Granger, Paranaque, with 3470.

    2007AICWomenMastersBerniceLim.jpg On the women's side, Bernice Lim (right), Singapore held off a strong charge by three Koreans to cruise to victory in the women's Masters.

    Leading after the first block with 1742 total, Lim again rolled the highest 8-game block on day 2 (1695 plus 50 bonus) to win the gold medal with 3487 pinfall total and a 9-7 won-loss record.

    Jang Jee Hyang won all but one match Saturday but fell 18 pins short to win the silver medal with 3469.

    An Yu Ri beat out 4-time AIC gold medalist Yoo Sung Hee, all from Busan, for the bronze medal by 10 pins, 3336 to 3326.
