5th Annual Super Bowl Mini Eliminator
Squad 5 - Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 1pm
72 players took on the 70 lanes at the Orleans Bowling Center (pictured) in the fifth of 26 qualifying squads in the Super Bowl Mini Eliminator here in Las Vegas. Jimmy Young from Houston, Texas, shot a 675 three-game series in the 1pm squad on Tuesday to advance to the Daily Finals in the 50-59 Division. Ken Diiorio rolled a 674 to lead the 40-49 Division. Advancing from the 39 under Division was Bruno Diaz (657), while Norwegian Ole Johnni Lislien topped the 205 and under Division with 605. Local bowler Mike Taylor (pictured) advanced from the Open Division with 642.
1 in 8 players of each of the five main divisions will advance every day to the Daily Finals and is guaranteed a minimum of $250. Cuts to the Daily Finals for the woman and the 60 and over is done on a daily basis. All advancing women will bowl in their appropriate age division in the Daily Finals, while the Senior and the Super Senior division will be combined.
The player with the highest daily 3-game series from each of the five main divisions and the five divisional winners of the Daily Finals will be seeded into the Grand Finale. The top prize is $50,000.
