Two women and two men added their names to the list of squad leaders in the 31st Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona, who are automatically qualified for the finals on Sunday at Bowling Pedralbes. PBA super star Mika Koivuniemi from Finland remained in the lead with 1484 and an average of 247.33 for six games.
Lisa Kabowski (left), Germany, started the penultimate qualifying day with a 1327 six-game series and added 48 pins handicap, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour, to lead Squad 8 with 1375 total, good for 17th place in the overall qualifying standings.
Veronica Lantto (right), who is on the Swedish national team for the Women's World Championships in Las Vegas later this month, posted one of two 1400-series on Friday, when she totaled 1422 to lead Squad 9 and to jump into second place.

Ildemaro Ruiz (left), Venezuela, a familiar face on the European Bowling Tour, cracked the 1400-bar in Squad 10. Ruiz had five games between 227 and 238 and a high game of 257 to move into fourth place with 1419, just one pin behind Dan MacLelland, Canada, who is third with 1420.
Erik Andersin (right), Sweden, used high games of 258 and 279 to win Squad 11 on Friday night with 1395 and an average of 232.50. Andersin leaped into 8th place right behind his compatriots Marcus Berndt and Martin Larsen, who sit in 6th and 7th place with 1403 and 1399. Berndt is the highest positioned player, who did not win a squad.

Yoan Alix (left), France, one of two players, who rolled a 300 game in the tournament (Lluis Montfort Rifé, Catalonia, is the other) sits in fifth place with 1410.
With four squads to go, Frederik Ăhrgaard (right), Denmark, is the "man on the bubble" in 38th place with 1314 (219.00).
The 31st Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona is the 9th stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Majors". The tournament will be held at Bowling Pedralbes in Barcelona, Spain from July 14-19, 2009.
The total prize fund is minimum 55.000 Euro with 12.000 Euro going to the winner. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game. As an EBT Major, there are 100 ranking points at stake for the winner of the men's and women's rankings, respectively.
Qualifying ends on Saturday, July 18th. A total of 48 players will advance to the finals on Sunday: The 15 squad leaders plus the top 27 from the overall qualifying standings (if any player wins more than one squad 28 or more) and an additional six women.
Those 48 players will carry forward 50 per cent of their qualifying total and bowl four games to cut to the top 24, who will bowl another four games to cut to the top 3 for the stepladder finals.
