Tomas Leandersson sets the pace in Final Round Two in Lahti

The top 12 from the first round of the finals in the Ebonite Lahti Open battled it out with the top 8 qualifiers for the top 10, who advanced to Final Round 3. Swedish national coach Tomas Leandersson (pictured) set the pace with 1142 (228.40).
Joining Leandersson in Round 3 are two PBA champions, Mika Koivuniemi, Finland (2nd, 1113) and Mike Wolfe, United States (5th, 1062), defending champion Osku Palermaa, Finland (7th, 1057), qualifying leader Paul Moor, England, (6th, 1061), two players who made the cut through the Desperado Squad, Tore Torgersen, Norway (4th, 1066) and Sergey Bogachev, Russia (9th, 1039) as well as Finns Jari Ratia (3rd, 1097), Panu Nurmilo (8th, 1042) and Pasi Uotila, who took the 10th and final spot to advance with 1029 (205.80).
Those 10 players will bowl another five games with the pinfall from Round 2 being carried forward to cut to the top 4 who will advance to the stepladder finals. The No. 4 seed meets the No. 3 seed, the winner takes on the No. 2 for the right to bowl the No. 1 for the title. All stepladder matches are single game matches.
The Ebonite Lahti Open is the 12th stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Challenger" events. The tournament will be held from Oct. 10-18, 2009 at Jouni Helminen's fully renovated Lahti Bowl in Lahti, Finland, and offers an increased total prize fund of 49.200 Euro, or about 72,500 U.S. dollars. The winner will receive the 8.000 Euro top prize.
