BWAA honors Hamilton and Ziesig as 2010 U.S. Amateur Bowlers of the Year

Bowling Writers Association of America President Jackie Wyckoff has announced the selection of Brittni Hamilton, Webster, N.Y., and Brian Ziesig, Levittown, N.Y., as the 2010 U.S. Amateur Bowlers of the Year.
Coming from opposite sides of New York, they earned their honors from opposite directions. Hamilton, 20, a junior at Vanderbilt University, used Junior Team USA and collegiate competition. Ziesig, 36, a warehouse manager for Ace Mitchell East, used the Lumber Liquidators Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) and United States Bowling Congress records.
Hamilton (pictured left) was the 2010 Junior Gold Champion earning her second Junior Team USA berth. She captured a silver medal for Singles in the World Youth Championships in Helsinki. She made the NCAA first Team All-American with the second-highest average in NCAA. The 2008 Alberta Crowe Award recipient also won the 2006 Teen Masters Championship.
"Wow! I am shocked and extremely honored to be receiving this award," she exclaimed after hearing the news.
Ziesig (pictured between PBA Hall of Famers Johnny Petraglia, left, and Mark Roth, right) shocked the bowling world in winning the PBA GEICO Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship as the first amateur since 2002 to win a PBA title. During league competition his four-man team set new records for both team game and team series. In another league, he set a new standard for 800 series in one league in one season with eleven.
"Good news for a good year," he modestly said.
